1. From the home screen, swipe down from the Notifications bar.
   
2. Tap the Settings icon.
   
3. Scroll to then tap Security.
   
4. Scroll to then tap Screen lock.
   
5. Tap Pattern.
   
6. Tap Next.
   
7. Draw the desired pattern.
   
8. Tap Continue.
   
9. Draw the pattern again to confirm.
   
10. Tap Confirm.
    
11. Tap Lock phone after to make the lock active whenever the phone goes to sleep.
    
12. When unlocking the device, the pattern lock will be required.
