Restore Wi-Fi after a BGW830 factory reset

After a factory reset, your Wi-Fi may be unavailable. Learn how to get it back.

Reset details

When you complete a factory reset for a BGW830, it goes through several processes to take the device back to its original state. The reset may take up to six minutes to complete. During this time:

  • Internet access is unavailable
  • Your Wi-Fi® network name (SSID) isn't visible
  • Devices can't connect to Wi-Fi

These are normal behaviors during a reset.

Connect to Wi-Fi after reset

Give your 5G Gateway time to start back up. This can take up to six minutes for the BGW830. If you try to connect to Wi-Fi too soon after a reset, it may fail, even if the gateway's lights appear normal. Once the reset is finished, here’s how to reconnect:

  1. Locate the default Wi-Fi name and password on the 5G Gateway. It should be on a sticker on the device.
  2. Open Wi-Fi on your device and connect to the network with the default password.

Good to know: If Wi-Fi still isn't working, restart your gateway by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Give it up to six minutes to fully restart.
