We’re improving home phone service in your area with more reliable and affordable options—so you can stay connected with fewer worries.
California’s copper network doesn’t deliver the same level of service, quality, and reliability as newer technology. Since there are more ways to connect today, we’re upgrading our network across California. Where we have newer, more reliable technology available, we’re discontinuing traditional home phone service in parts of the state on or after June 1, 2027, as we transition from the copper network. We’ll no longer accept new orders for traditional home phone service in parts of the state, effective on or after July 19, 2026.
We’re proud to connect California, with plans to make our largest ever statewide connectivity investment commitment through 2030:
We want to make it easy for you to keep your phone number and stay connected. We’ll work with you to upgrade your home phone service before it’s discontinued on or after June 1, 2027. To keep your existing number, you can transfer it to AT&T Phone – Advanced, AT&T Phone (where fiber is available), or AT&T Wireless.
Important: If you cancel your traditional home phone without transferring your number to another service, you won’t be able to get your number back.
