Use Call Waiting

Call Waiting lets you answer another call while you’re already on the phone. Learn to enable and disable this feature.


Turn Call Waiting on or off

Call Waiting is a free feature that’s included with your phone service. Use it to place a current call on hold so you can answer another incoming call. A special tone will indicate an incoming call. If your phone has caller ID, the number of the incoming caller displays.

Phone handset

  • Press *371# to turn Call Waiting ON.
  • Press *370# to turn Call Waiting OFF.

Online portal

  1. Go to the AT&T phone portal. Sign in with your member ID.
  2. Select Features and then Feature Controls.
  3. Expand the Call Waiting section.
  4. Toggle Call Waiting On or Off.

Answer incoming call while already on phone

  1. Press the Flash button to put the first call on hold.
  2. To return to the first call or switch back and forth between the calls, press the Flash or Hang Up button.

Disable Call Waiting for a single call

If you want to turn Call Waiting off for only one call:

  1. Press *70 to temporarily disable Call Waiting before dialing the number.
  2. Enter the number you want to call.
  3. Press # to start the call.

Once you hang up, Call Waiting will turn back on automatically.

FYI: You can also disable call waiting while on a call by pressing the Flash button to put the call on hold. Press *70#, then the Flash button to return to your call.
