Activate Your Prepaid Phone: New Phones, SIM Cards & eSIM | AT&T

Activating your account is easy

If you bought your device on att.com, follow this guide to help you get started.

SIM card

Remove your SIM card from the packaging, insert it into your unlocked device, and turn the device on.

eSIM

Use your phone to scan the QR code on your activation card and follow the prompts to activate.

New phone

If you bought a new phone with AT&T Prepaid, it automatically comes with a SIM card installed. Simply turn the device on and follow the prompts.

Activation of service may take a few minutes. Physical SIM cards, eSIM QR codes, and newly purchased devices can take 2 - 3 business days to arrive.

*International Calling Add-Ons: Good for 30 days as long as your AT&T Prepaid account balance has not expired. Your voice plan must be active at the time of purchase or renewal of Add-On. Standard per-minute rates apply if Add-On is not renewed. $10 International Add-On includes 250 minutes of calling to mobile and landline numbers in 70 countries. Minute balance rolls over if renewed before the Add-On expiration date. If your plan includes unlimited calling to Mexico and Canada, calls to those countries will not be deducted from your International Add-On minutes. $15 International Plus Add-On requires monthly or multi-month voice plan. Includes unlimited calling to mobile and landline numbers in over 85 countries and reduced per-minute rates to 140 more.
