Want a new wireless number? Learn how to get one without affecting your installment plan or contract.

What to know before you change your number

  • You can change your wireless number for free within 30 days of activation.
  • You can change your number after 30 days of activation for a $36 change fee. You can request the change online, at an AT&T store, or by contacting us.
  • You can’t change your number If you have Wireless Account Lock turned on. You’ll have to turn off the account lock first. Learn how to turn off Wireless Account Lock

How to change your wireless number online

Good to know: When you change numbers, your voicemail changes too. We can’t transfer your messages, so be sure to write down any important messages before you switch.

How to change your wireless number:

  1. Go to your wireless hub. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Select Switch to choose a number, if needed.
  3. Choose Device options, then Change phone number.
  4. Complete the form and choose Search for available numbers.
  5. Scroll down and Select the number you want. Follow the prompts to complete your request.

Heads up: If you activated your service more than 30 days ago, there’s a $36 change fee. We'll prorate your monthly service charge between your old and new numbers.
