How to reboot your gateway or modem

Use Smart Home Manager to reboot your gateway

Heads up: Make sure your gateway is on the list of Smart Home Manager–compatible gateways:
  • Arris NVG599
  • BGW210
  • Motorola NVG589
  • Pace 5031NV 
  • Pace 5168 
  • Pace 5268AC 
  • 2Wire 3600HGV 
  • 2Wire 3801HGV 
  • 2Wire 3800HGV-B

  1. Go to att.com/smarthomemanager and choose Devices. (On your smartphone? You’ll find it in the main menu.)
  2. Select Wi-Fi Gateway, then Reboot Wi-Fi Gateway, and finally Reboot.

Reboot your gateway or modem manually

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it.
    • DSL service, also unplug your telephone cord from your modem or gateway.
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in, if applicable. 
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the telephone cord too.
  5. Wait up to 10 minutes for the gateway or modem to reboot and your Broadband light to solid green.

Stuck?

Try restarting your gateway or modem, and reconnecting to your network after rebooting.

If you still have problems, make sure your device isn’t defective. Find out what the status lights on your gateway or modem mean.
