There are two types of home security cameras - wired and wireless. The wireless security cameras use Wi-Fi, but many wireless cameras are usually not completely wireless as they must be plugged into AC power through a power cable, though some use the rechargeable batteries.
Wireless security cameras are generally regarded as smart cameras as they're controlled through an app on the smartphone and can integrate with voice assistant devices, smart speakers, and smart locks.
Wired home security devices are wired physically to a video storage device, either a network video recorder or a digital video recorder. Each camera contains a cable attached to it from a local storage device for transmitting and power footage. Wired home cameras usually do not use Wi-Fi but they can be connected to the internet through an ethernet cable to view the footage remotely.
