RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 keypad Layout
Prerequisites
- Visual voicemail setup is complete
- RIM BlackBerry data rate plan
- Verify wireless data network attach
- Visual Voicemail feature active on account
Configure visual voicemail options
- Open the All tray, then scroll to and select the Visual Voice Mail icon
(to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen). - Press the Menu key, then scroll to and select Options.
- The visual voicemail options screen will be displayed.
- In the following fields, scroll to and select the desired option:

Auto Download Messages | Set the automatic download preference for visual voicemail messages. If this option is set to "No", messages will not download until they are accessed. | Yes |
Allow Data Connection While Roaming | Set the download preference for visual voicemail messages while roaming. If this option is set to "No", the device will not display voicemail notifications while roaming. | No |
Show Voice Mails in Messages List | Enable or disable visual voicemail messages appearing in the Messages list. | Yes |
Delete On | Set the visual voicemail deletion synchronization preferences. NOTE: Selecting "Handheld Only" for this option means that messages will only be deleted on the handheld and not the mail server. | Mailbox and Handheld |
Set Greeting | Select Set Greeting to set the desired voicemail greeting type and record greetings. For more information, please see the instructions below. | Standard |
Set Password | Select Set Password to change the visual voicemail password. For more information, please see the instructions below. | N/A |
- Press the Menu key, then select Save.
Configure the visual voicemail greeting
- Open the All tray, then scroll to and select the Visual Voice Mail icon
(to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen). - Press the Menu key, then scroll to and select Options.
- Scroll to and select Set Greeting.
- Scroll to the "Select Greeting" option.
- Select the desired greeting type:
- Standard Greeting
NOTE: Proceed to step 3.
- Personal Greeting
- Press the trackpad, then scroll to and select Personal Greeting.
- Press the trackpad to begin recording a personal greeting.
- Press the trackpad to pause recording.
- Scroll to and select the Folder icon to save this greeting.
NOTE: Select the Record icon
to continue recording, or the Play icon
to playback your greeting.
- Press the Menu key, then select Save.
Set visual voicemail password Open the All tray, then scroll to and select the Visual Voice Mail icon
(to select, press the trackpad or tap the screen).
- Press the Menu key, then scroll to and select Options.
- Scroll to and select Set Password.
- Enter the requested password information, then scroll to and select OK.
NOTE: Passwords must be between 4-15 numbers in length. If the current password is unknown, follow the instructions below to reset the password from AT&T's website or call Customer Care.
- From the myWireless Account home page, click Support.
NOTE: You must be registered and logged into myWireless Account to view this information.
- Under Phone/Device Support section, select Reset Voicemail Password link.
IMPORTANT: If there is more than one line on the account, make sure the correct wireless number is displayed in the Wireless Number list before selecting Reset Voicemail Password. - To reset the password for any of the lines on the account, choose a wireless number from the dropdown menu
- Click Submit.
- After a few seconds, the device will display "Password Incorrect - Enter Voicemail Password."
NOTE: Enter the last seven digits of the wireless phone number and tap OK.
- A confirmation message will be displayed. Select OK.
