Watch, search, and record your favorite movies and shows—and turn your device into your remote control—with the DIRECTV app on your phone.


Prenote info

You must have an existing DIRECTV account or create one and be signed into the app in order to use. If your device does not have the DIRECTV app pre-installed, see the Download Apps & Games tutorial for further instruction on how to download.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to:

• Watch live television
• Watch your DVR
• Browse and record programs to DVR
• Search for a show or movie
• Use your phone as a remote
• Edit your settings

To access DIRECTV, navigate to and select the directv app DIRECTV app

Upon first accessing the app, you must read and review the End User Acknowledgement. Select I Agree to continue. Enter your Login information, then select Sign In. You will then receive permission prompts. Select Allow to continue. Review the Allow "DIRECTV" to access your location prompt then select Allow While Using the App, Allow Once or Don't Allow

Watch live television

From the DIRECTV Home screen, select Watch on iPhone then select Watch Live TV or the desired show.

Note: To access the Home screen, select the menu icon menu icon then select Home.

Watch your DVR

Swipe left or right from Watch Live TV, then select Watch Your DVR and follow the prompts.

Browse and record programs to DVR

Select Browse for TV. Select the desired movie or show you wish to record then select Record or Record Series.

Note: To browse through programs on your phone by Channel or Date/Time, select the corresponding option.

Search for a show or movie

Select the Search field, then enter the desired show or movie. Select the desired search result.

Use your phone as a remote

Select Browse for TV, then select the remote icon Remote icon.

Edit your settings

Select the menu icon Menu icon, then select Settings & Help. Edit settings as desired.
