# Learn next steps after upgrading to AT&T Internet
Getting a new AT&T service installed? Here are some things you should know to help with the transition.

### Order confirmation
You'll get a summary of your order, along with a confirmation of your service activation or tech installation date. Please make sure this info is correct.
Here’s an easy way to confirm what plan you have:
1. Go to your [internet account](https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/myinternet "Link opens in new window").
2. Select __Manage my internet__ to see your plan details.
__FYI:__ If you’re interested in AT&T Fiber® or other high-speed internet options, you can change your plan at any time. Plans are subject to [availability in your area](https://www.att.com/buy/broadband/offers.html "Link opens in new window").
### Passcode
You’ll also get an email or letter with a passcode. It is the same passcode you chose when you ordered your service. You’ll need this to register, so make sure to have it handy.
### Register your AT&T Internet
Before your installation day, you can register at [att.com/login](https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/registration/selectServices "Link opens in new window") with your account number and passcode. Keep in mind, your passcode is the one you set up when you placed your service order. You also got an email or letter with your passcode info.

- During registration, you’ll notice the __Internet Terms of Service__, which you have to accept to use the service. You can view them anytime at [att.com/internet-terms](http://www.att.com/internet-terms "Link opens in new window").
### Manage internet service
Use the Smart Home Manage app to view details about your new service.
### Self-installation
If you’re installing your new service on your own:
- __Track your equipment:__ Check your email, voicemail, or text for an AT&T message that contains a link to track your equipment.
- __Wait for service activation:__ Activate your service after 2 p.m. on your service activation date.
- __Install your equipment:__ Disconnect your DSL equipment and install your new internet equipment using the instructions.
__FYI:__ We recommend professional installation if you have a home alarm or health monitoring system. Call [__800.288.2020__](tel:%20800.288.2020) to schedule an installation appointment.
### Professional installation
If a technician will be installing your service:
- __Check for appointment reminders__. You’ll get email, voicemail, or text messages for appointment reminders. These messages contain the date and time the technician will install your new AT&T service.
- __Be available for the install__. The technician will install your new equipment and help you through the registration process if you haven’t already registered. If you need to change your appointment, [enter your order or account number](https://www.att.com/support/internet/ "Link opens in new window") to find a time that works for you.

### AT&T
You can manage your account online or use the AT&T app. Keep in mind, compatible device and account registration required. Data and messaging rates may apply for app download and usage.
- __Check your order status.__ Find out where your order is, when your service will start, and what to do afterwards.
- __Check or change appointments.__ Confirm when your technician will arrive, if we’re installing it. Or, if necessary, reschedule your appointment.

### Your AT&T bills
- __Look for your new bill.__ Once your new AT&T internet service is set up, you'll have a new account. This means you’ll receive a new bill for your upgraded internet service that’s separate from your AT&T DSL and/or home phone service bill.
- __Pay your final bill for any current services if you’re not on AutoPay.__ You'll receive a final bill for any discontinued services.
### Set up AutoPay
Make sure to set up new AutoPay arrangements. Also, pay the final bill for your old services.
