Hide your Wi-Fi network name – Pace 5268

Prevent outside users from accessing your Pace 5268 Wi-Fi gateway by hiding or disabling your network name (SSID).

Hide Wi-Fi network name

To add additional security to your home network, you can hide your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) from Available Network searches. This prevents outside users from being able to find your network and access it without your knowledge. Once you have hidden your network name, you must manually enter your Wi-Fi network name to get Wi-Fi access.

Note: Before proceeding with this process, be sure to store your Wi-Fi network name and password in a safe location so you can manually enter it after it is hidden.

This process should only be completed by advanced users. Read the following instructions completely before proceeding, as failure to do so can cause a loss of Internet connectivity.

Disable SSID broadcast
  1. Go to gateway settings.
  2. Under Key Things to do Using Your Gateway, select Wireless.
  3. Locate the User Network area for either the 2.4Hz or 5.0Hz radio.
  4. Under SSID Broadcast, select Disabled from the drop-down.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Enter the Device access code found on the side of your Wi-Fi gateway.
  7. Select Submit.

    2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Radio Configuration

Once you have successfully disabled your Wi-Fi network name (SSID), your name will no longer appear in the Available Wireless Networks screens. You will need to manually enter your Wi-Fi network name and password using your operating system’s instructions. Your network will then appear only on the devices where you have manually entered it into the network list.
