Voicemail setup

Learn how to set up your voicemail and additional voicemail boxes by following the instructions below, by using the detailed user guide or viewing the video.

Set Up Individual Voicemail Boxes

Set up voicemail online
The online voicemail Setup Wizard walks you through every step of setting up your voicemail.

Log in to myAT&T. If you don’t have a myAT&T account, register to establish your Member ID and password.

From the Account Overview Page
  1. Click (+) from My digital phone section.
  2. Select Manage my plan.
  3. From the My Phone Service page, scroll to My Voicemail, select Set up voicemail
  4. Choose your voicemail box type
    • Advanced voicemail (suggested)
    • Basic voicemail

If you have more than one telephone number in your office or want more than one person to have a voicemail box there are options for your voicemail:
  1. Establish a unique voicemail box for each person or telephone number.
  2. All your telephone numbers voicemail messages are left in a single voicemail box.

To create additional voicemail boxes first create a subaccount(s):

Create a subaccount
  1. From the Account Overview page, select (+) from the My digital phone section.
  2. Select Manage my plan.
  3. From the My Phone Service page, scroll to My voicemail and select Create or manage voicemail accounts.
  4. Select Manage Subaccounts.
  5. Select Add a Subaccount, and then accept the Terms & Conditions.
  6. Complete the required information for the subaccount profile, and then select Save.
  7. Review your information on the confirmation page, select Continue.

Note: You can add additional subaccounts, edit, delete, or suspend current subaccounts from the Manage Subaccounts tab.

Once you've created your subaccounts, access your account overview page, and then select Account & services from the dropdown.

From the Account Overview page
  1. Select (+) from the My digital phone section.
  2. Select Manage my plan.
  3. From the My Phone Service page, scroll to My voicemail and select Set up voicemail.
  4. Choose your voicemail box type.
  5. Select Advanced voicemail (suggested method), and then select Next.

Subaccounts voicemail access and phone number assignment
  1. Add name and assign each phone number a name to easily identify who is using the line.
  2. Select Continue.

Add subaccount users / members
  1. Place a checkmark next to each subaccount user who will require a unique voicemail box.
  2. For each selected user, assign a PIN to retrieve private voice messages.
  3. Assign keypad number(s) to route callers to the subaccount users’ voicemail box when dialing the main number to leave a message. Note: (If you don't want the voicemail box accessible to callers via a keypress, select None). If None is selected, be sure to give a private phone number option to the subaccount user.

Configure phone number
  1. Select which subaccount user will be assigned to the phone number (private) or select Shared voicemail for the phone number to share a voicemail box with your primary phone number.
    • Private: Unique voicemail box for phone number / subaccount user.
    • Shared: Phone number shares primary phone number’s voicemail box
  2. Select Save.
  3. Confirmation page will confirm how your voicemail is setup.

Once set up is complete, callers can now leave voicemail for you and your authorized subaccount users.

Be sure to call your voicemail (from your primary phone by entering *98). Follow the prompts to create an authentication code. You'll need this code if you ever forget your PIN. Everyone can check their messages using their assigned PIN.

To have all voicemail messages from all your telephone numbers left in a single voicemail box, from the Account Overview page:
  1. Select (+) from the My digital phone section.
  2. Select Manage my plan.
  3. From the My Phone Service page, scroll to the My voicemail, select Set up voicemail.
  4. Select Basic Voicemail.
  5. Follow the next steps of Voicemail Set Up to receive your confirmation.

Note: If you change from Advance to Basic voicemail, you’ll no longer have access to any subaccount voicemail messages, those messages will be erased.

Be sure to call your voicemail (from your primary phone by entering *98). Follow the prompts to create an authentication code. You'll need this code if you ever forget your PIN. Everyone can check messages using the assigned PIN.

Set up voicemail by phone
  1. Call *98 from your business phone. The system may take 5 to 7 seconds to begin voicemail setup.
  2. When prompted, enter a new PIN, and then press #. Note: Your PIN must be at least 6 digits long. If you make a mistake when entering your PIN, press * to start over.
  3. Re-enter your new PIN, and then press #.
  4. When prompted, select a personal authentication question and answer. The answer you provide is used to confirm your identity if you ever need to reset your PIN.
  5. When prompted to record your name, say your name after the tone, and then press #.
    • If you're happy with the recording, press 1.
    • To record again, press 2.
    • If you need more time, press 8 to pause the recording. To resume, press any key.
  6. When you're prompted to record your personal greeting or use a pre-recorded system greeting, do one of the following:
    • To use a pre-recorded greeting, press 3.
    • To record a greeting, press 1, record your greeting after the tone, and then press #.
  7. Finally:
    • To save the recording, press 1.
    • To record again, press 2.
    • If you need more time, press 8 to pause the recording. To resume, press any key.
