For a new AT&T device

  1. Go to Shop smartphones, devices, and accessories.
  2. Select a new device.
    • If you want to trade in your device, select Trade in to start the process online.
    • We strongly suggest you add device protection to insure your new phone or tablet against damage or loss. Learn about adding device protection
  3. Follow the prompts to either add the device to your current plan or select a new plan.

For a device you bought elsewhere

Before you beginAdd the device to your account
  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview.
  2. Select Manage my wireless under My wireless.
  3. Choose Add a device.
  4. Find "Bring your own device" and select Get started.
  5. Follow the prompts to order a new AT&T SIM card.
After you add your device
Phone number transfer:  How long does it take?
  • In-store: one to three days.  
  • Phone order: three to five days.
  • Non-wireless number: five to seven days, no matter where you place the order.
