Set up your DIRECTV Wireless Cinema Connection Kit

Learn how to connect your Wireless Cinema Connection Kit to a Genie or HD DVR.


Get set up and enjoy TV apps and DIRECTV Cinema

Confirm your connection status, set up equipment, and get online

Before you can set up your equipment, you need to check your SWiM connection. Press the dash (-) button on the remote control. If you see the words SWiM Connected and your network status says Connected, you are ready for set up. If you are not connected, follow the steps in the article Connect your DIRECTV Genie or HD DVR to the Internet.

Set up a Wireless Cinema Connection Kit

  1. Check that your receiver and TV are both turned on.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a surge protector (recommended) or an electrical outlet. Plug the other end into the back of the Wireless Cinema Connection Kit.

  3. Do you have a DECA (below image) connected to your HD DVR? If yes, leave the cable that connects the HD DVR to your TV attached. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the other side of the DECA.

    If you don't have a DECA, disconnect the coaxial cable from the SATELLITE IN 1 (or SAT IN 1) port on the back of your HD DVR.Disconnect coaxial cable from HD DVR
  4. On the Wireless Cinema Connection Kit, there is a port labeled Towards LNB. Connect the coaxial cable that you disconnected from your DECA or HD DVR to the Towards LNB port.

  5. On the Wireless Cinema Connection Kit, there is a connector port labeled SAT Rcvr. Unscrew the cap that is on the connector.

  6. Get out the coaxial cable included with your kit. Connect that cable to the port labeled SAT Rcvr on the Wireless Cinema Connection Kit. Connect the other end into the port on the DECA or the SATELLITE IN 1 (or SAT IN 1) port on your receiver.Connect coaxial cable to ports
  7. Next, the POWER, Activity and Coax Network lights turn on. Wait for the POWER light to stop flashing and then you will be ready to connect.CCK-W LEDs will light up
  8. You're now ready to make a wireless connection to your Wi-Fi router. The connection is quick if you have a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). It allows you to connect without entering your Wi-Fi network name and password. Or, you can connect by entering your Wi-Fi network name and password. Check to see if your router has WPS. Look for a button with one of the logos pictured here.

  9. If you do not see one of the WPS logos, follow these steps
