Manage groups in the Connected Life app

Updated over 2 months ago

Groups provide a clear overview of your AT&T Connected Life devices and their status, so you can easily see what's happening in each area of your home.

How to use groups

You can create groups to organize and manage your devices in the app so it’s easier to control and monitor them. You can group devices based on device type (all your cameras or all your sensors), by location (all devices in the living room), or any other way you choose.

  • Organize devices: Use groups to arrange your devices into logical categories like cameras, sensors, front door sensors, or back porch cameras.

  • Use preset rooms: Create groups based on preset room options, making it even easier to organize your devices by location.

  • Create custom groups: Set up custom groups to fit your specific needs and preferences.

Access and manage groups

To view, create, or manage groups in the Connected Life app, select Devices from the bottom navigation bar. On the Devices screen, you’ll see:

  • Device filter icons: Enable you to filter by device type, or devices that currently have faults.

  • Tiles for each group: Make it easy to view relevant info for a device. For example, if the group includes a temperature sensor, it will display the temperature.

  • Ungrouped devices: Includes any devices that haven’t been added to a group. These devices display under the groups you’ve created at the bottom of the Device tab.

Create a new group

You can set up a group of devices based on device type or the room they’re in.

Here’s how:

  1. Tap the Devices tab in the bottom navigation.

  2. Select the + icon, then Create a new group.

  3. Choose a preset room name or create a custom group and name.

  4. Tap Done.

  5. Select the devices you want to add and then tap Create group.

FYI: You can only include devices in one group at a time.

Update an existing group

It’s simple to add or remove devices from an existing group with the Connected Life app.

  1. Tap the Devices tab in the bottom navigation.

  2. Select the device group you want to update.

  3. Tap the gear icon to open settings.

  4. Select Manage devices.

  • To delete a device, uncheck the device in the group.

  • To add a device, select a device from Other devices and it will move to the group.

Move a device to a group

You can move a device to a group whether it’s ungrouped or in a group.

  1. Tap the Devices tab in the bottom navigation.

  2. Select the device you want to move.

  3. Select the group you want to move it to.

  4. Tap Done.

Delete a group

Don’t want a group anymore? You can delete it.

  1. Tap the Devices tab in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Select the device group you want to remove.

  3. Tap the gear icon to open settings.

  4. Select Delete group and follow the prompts to confirm.
