1. Press the Volume keys located on the back of the device to adjust the volume.
   
2. Press on the Down volume key to reduce the volume until the Vibrate icon appears to enable Vibrate mode.
   
3. When Vibrate mode is active, the Vibrate icon will display in the Notification bar.
   
4. Press on the Down volume key to reduce the volume until the Silent icon appears to enable Silent mode.
   
5. When Silent mode is active, the Silent icon will display in the Notification bar.
   
6. To change the ringtone, swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap the Settings icon.
   
7. To change notification alerts on an app-by-app basis, from the Sounds & notification tab, scroll to and tap Apps.
   Note: For steps to assign a ringtone to a contact, please see the 'Contacts' tutorial.
   
8. Tap Desired ringtone, and then tap OK.
   
9. To change notification alerts, from the Sounds & notification tab, scroll to and tap Apps.
   Note: To block or unblock notifications from appearing when the device is locked, go to Settings > Sound & notification tab > Lock screen.
   
10. Select desired app and adjust settings as desired.
