Scam texts from area code 838 numbers

The most common area code 838 text scam is the “wrong number” opener: a friendly message that pretends to know you, then moves the chat to WhatsApp and eventually to an investment pitch. Scripts currently circulating:

  • “U at home?” · “Are you busy tomorrow?” · “How are you doing?”
  • Delivery-problem and job-offer texts that link out to a login page

Don’t reply. A response marks your number as live. Forward scam texts to 7726 (SPAM), and AT&T ActiveArmor® filters known senders automatically.

How number spoofing works in area code 838
