Is Area Code 848 a Scam?

Caller ID is easy to forge. Spoofing fakes the number a call displays. The real owner of that 848 number isn’t involved and usually has no idea. That’s why blocking one number rarely stops the calls.
- A call from a number almost identical to yours (same 848 and prefix) is “mirror spoofing.” A missed call from your own number is never worth returning.
