    Two days ago, I wrote a critical review of AT&T regarding some pricing information I received for bundling DirecTV and CenturyLink which omitted certain charges and therefore made the cost to me non-competitive. For the record, Shannon, the store manager followed up directly with me regarding my concerns and rectified the situation much to my satisfaction. I was very pleased with this customer service as well as the help that Oscar provided me in the store. My issue has been resolved and I post this to ensure the full story of my issue and its subsequent resolution are documented.

    If you choose AT&T, make sure they give you all the facts. I switched from Comcast to the combination of DirecTV and CenturyLink, being assured I would receive a better price. I was assured there would be no hidden charges. After paying a $99 installation charge for CenturyLink, my bill came and now I am actually paying more than I had been at Comcast, after my installation fee. I was misled and went to a lot of trouble for nothing. After presenting my case to the store manager, I was left with the distinct impression of "sorry there is nothing I can do. Basically, tough luck pal." I was screwed by AT&T. Beware if you consider a package deal with them. Bad business practice!

    I bought the Cingular Flip IV from them this week. It would not download MMS. I tried a list of different settings and still could not get the phone to work. I even contacted the forum and tried a troubleshooting section that offered several different solutions. Still kept getting "Network Error." I went to the store from where I purchased the phone and asked to return it. It is a $63 phone. The CSR said they could return it but it would cost me a $55 dollar restocking fee. They tried some different setting on the phone but could not get it to download MMS pictures. The Manager on Duty said that with basic flip phones they sometimes will not be able to download mms from other smart phones due to resolution from other smart phones may be more than the flip phone or a basic phone can handle. Would not take it back without charging me a a restocking fee. She was also somewhat condescending in asking my why I wanted a flip phone or why I bought the phone. As if to imply that I should not buy a simple phone if I wanted to use MMS. And that it is common that basic phones like this are known to have this issue. I said that is not how it is advertised and she quickly snipped that "Techincally it is". I don't think she even knew which flip phone I had. It is a Cingular Flip IV is referred as a smart phone on the ATT website. So I took the phone and left. I then called ATT Tech Support. The CSR there worked with me for an hour. First she discoverd the IMEI on my account was not matching my phone. Once we had that corrected, she tried some other fixes on her end and had be power down and power up the phone. She sent me an MMS and I still could not download MMS. She then tried to her last option and that was to reset or reassign the SIM card. She said if that did not work that I could go to an ATT store and get a new SIM card and have my phone number and account assigned to the new card. Fortunately, the reassignment worked. I followed her instructions to remove the SIM card for 5 minutes and reinstall it. MMS pics started downloading after I reinstalled the SIM card. Why would a manager of a store not suggest I call the tech support people or call them herself to help me get the phone fixed? Why would you charge me a restocking fee of almost the price of the phone when I asked to return it. I pay $65 per month just for cell service. The store was not that busy. You can't share your inside knowledge with me and help me figure out a way to fix the phone or even make a suggestion that you call someone with more knowledge? The manager gave me the excuse that they could not resell the phone and it would just go back and sit in warehouse. Why would you tell me that? Why do I care what happens with the phone. I currenlty pay $780 a year for cell service and have been att customer for 6 or 7 years. ATT or even the store manager cannot override a company policy and risk losinga person that has probably paid them $3500 or more dollars and even more to come in the future. Here is a tip. Stop sitting in a chair from across the room when someone has a problem.Stand up and walk over to the customer. Engage them. At least fake caring even if you don't. The store was not that busy. You could have done more or made a phone call or offered a suggestion to try. But to just give me excuses and imply that my new phone, I purchased from your store, was lame and basic is poor behavior on your part and a disappointment to your team and fellow store managers and overall bad face for ATT.

    I was very pleased with the customer attention I received from Matt. I hope that customers who choose to not wear a mask will not be allowed to enter the store. The employees have the right to ask those uncaring people to leave.
