I unexpectedly got my new iPhone 13 pro in 11/9 at 2pm (early delivery)…we were headed down to Boston at 8pm that night for a flight out for our 2 week vacation to Mexico. I called the store to confirm they had iPhone 13 pro cases in stock, specifically looking at a Carson and Quinn case I saw online which they confirmed they did. Everyone was super nice in the store when I got there and directed me to the case I called about and even confirmed 13 pro. I got home later that day and the case did not fit. It was for a 13. I get accidents happen. We are finally home and past the holiday’s so I just went to the store today to return, still in the box, with original wrapping on the case, box and my receipt. I was advised I could not return the case but if I wanted to come back when a manager was there I could discuss it with them. Back of the receipt clearly states return window is 14-30 days with original receipt. I do not have time to keep trying back when a manager is there. I asked the kid working why I can’t return when I was handed the wrong item and his reply was “you weren’t given the wrong item”. When the item is for a 13 and not the phone model in my possession that indicates otherwise. I am a recent new customer to AT&T and this clearly isn’t a good start to this new relationship. I left the phone case and receipt on the counter and advised them they could keep it. If you have associates working that cannot handle “management related issues” in a mall store which is usually pretty busy, clearly they need to have a manager there when the store is open.Response from AT&TDecember 4, 2021Hi Ms. Page, I would like to personally apologize for any inconvenience you may have had. After receiving a 4G flip phone as replacement for my 3G phone (AT&T 3G Sunset plan), I was told by customer service that I could exchange the phone for a different phone. I was told I had to go to an AT&T store, or an authorized reseller to exchange the phones. I first tried a franchised AT&T (my 2 PM appointment at the store was not recognized) store, only to be told, no way could I exchange the phone without paying the difference in cost plus a restocking fee, and no way would the young lady at the store call anyone for assistance in this matter. Again, I called customer service and verified that a no cost exchange could be made at the store. I asked customer service to call the store and was told they could not do that, nor could the exchange be handled through customer service. I went to the Mall of NH (corporate owned) store where I was told something similar, but that I could call customer service and the store would explain how it was impossible for the store to swap out the phones at no charge. I phoned customer service from the store, and Matt, AT&T store rep, spent nearly 3 hours on the phone getting the no cost exchange processed. I applaud his efforts and patience, but wonder about the abysmal communication between corporate, customer service, and the stores. An entire afternoon was lost on something that should have taken 30 minutes. If I were only rating Matt's help I'd give him 5 stars.

Absolutely the worst customer service imaginable. I hoped for some help in setting up my new phone only to have the young rep say right here are the instructions, 1 2 and 3.
