Meets my expectations
I did not buy this phone in order to replace a computer. My goal was to have a rugged phone, since I do spend time outdoors and I was worried to drop the phone and break it. I use this phone mostly for talk, text, email, and maps. I am a photographer so the camera quality is not relevant to me, since I do not care to take pictures with a phone camera. I have this phone almost a month now, and I must say that I like it very much. I charge it twice a week, so even that I am not heavy talker this pVe más

The keyboard lets you type well, but it is useless for navigating the device.
I initially got the NEC Terrain after waiting ages for a keyboard based Android phone from AT&T (I was coming from a 9000 series Blackberry Bold)
In short, there's a contract you take up when you get a keyboard based phone. In exchange for giving up screen space, you should get more discrete, key based control of the device. The Terrain fails in this regard (sadly, so does the BB Q10), as there is no key based navigation of the device, and you are left with a measley 3.1" screen for navigation Ve más

It's a bummer
I was looking for a replacement for my Blackberry....I made an expensive boo boo....never will I ever do it again. If I could afford to...I would toss it in the trash in a million pieces. I will be miserable until I replace this phone. I'm sure someone may like it....I would not sell mine to anyone.
No, I do not recommend this product.

The NEC is not the phone I had hoped it would be.

I was excited to have the Qwerty keyboard and I liked the ruggedness and durability of this phone. BUT... I have had this phone less than 24 hours (replacing my Samsung S5 Active) and I am frustrated, disappointed and already looking for a replacement. It's not easy to navigate, doesn't download programs I use every day from the Play Store, won't even download ringtones, and isn't as "business friendly" as I need it to be. I would not recommend this phone to anyone ~ a HUGE disappointment.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This phone sucks
This phone is terrible, it is totally useless. It does nothing well. Do not get this phone unless you have low expectations in a phone. When trying to look something up it closes constantly. The only thing you can do is call and text with it. Even that is a pain. run away from this phone, it will disappoint.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Overpriced Antiquated Telephone

Incredible how they can charge so much money for this thing. Most apps I tried to download came up as "not compatible with this device".

I found an awesome website that provides the specifications of the NEC Terrain and provides a side by side comparison between the NEC and Kyocera.
Check out http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/NEC-Terrain,Kyocera-DuraForce-XD/phones/7910,9852 to view the comparison.
Hope this helps!

Q: can you hear well on this phone? Do you recommend or no?
I am obviously tough on my phones. Problems with almost every "tough phone" from another phone company. Hoping this one is different and much better. Any idea how many phone numbers it holds?
