Atypical 'smart' phone
I genuinely like it for what it is not. No touch screen. No flip. It's one of those types of phones that the old school candy bar style lovers would enjoy. It's beefy, can take a beating and deliver one if necessary.

don't waste your money on this phone
I bought this phone a couple of months ago. The phone is built well; however, the software on the phone is horrific. I returned it within a couple of days. I'm just now getting around to posing my review; didn't have time before. AT&T has better rugged phones for sale that actually work. Don't waste you're money on this phone!

DA BEST

BEST PHONE IVE EVER HAD, THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS IT NOT A SMART PHONE! IT DOES WHAT PHONE IS SUPPOSED TO DO, MAKE CALLS. I AM VERY TOUGH ON PHONES, I RETIRED MY SAMSUNG RUGBY AFTER ALMOST 10 YEARS, THIS ONE IS BETTER. MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HATES IT BECAUSE ITS NOT A SMARTYPANTS PHONE, I JUST LAUGH AND SAY IT MAKES YOU THINK. FINALLY A PHONE THATS ME PROOF, IN A PINCH IT WILL WORK AS A DOOR STOP OR A WHEEL CHOCK, I SHOULD GET 15 YEARS OUT OF IT, WILL KEEP YOU POSTED.
Yes, I recommend this product.

you have to get used to it, but then you will love

this phone just for text, talk, push to talk {if you want that} and you can create a hot spot. has loud speakers for your alarms and music and speaker phone.
every time you grab the phone you will hit the push to talk button, but you get used to hitting the end call to clear it. the size is like a flip phone open all the time, but it fits into my shirt pocket or clips to my belt with the right holster. you can order the micro usb adapter so it will chanrge like other phones
Yes, I recommend this product.

Seemed like a great sturdy phone but returned it. I guess I was spoiled with the smart phones and decided to go back. Just waiting for my refund now

A: Good Afternoon,
Great question! It would be my pleasure to help out. Yes, this device has the speed dial function. You can find out how to complete it here (https://workbench-c4.bazaarvoice.com/portal/app?service=page/AnswerManagementTool&viewId=15059).
There is no emergency button, but there is Enhanced push to talk. You can get further information about this feature here (https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tutorial.html#!/interactive/id/interactive_999887?make=Sonim&model=XP5XP5700).
I hope this information helps.

A: Thank you, Jonathan.
Yes, your answer is helpful.
More specifically, I was curious if this device can be traced or located without voluntarily enabling those services.
Is it possible to track this device covertly by "hacking" ones privacy and location history? As was the case with my current Motorola Droid Maxx!!!

Excellent choice! The Sonim XP5 is built to withstand harsh and tough environments. This device is a feature phone, meaning it will not require a data plan unlike a smart phone.

Q: Though this phone is a stripped down phone, which is perfect for me, does it do GPS turn by turn directions?

1 Answer
A: Hi TerryDog!
This phone is wonderfully designed for people who want a basic phone with no frills. It does have on-board location services, and GPS. However, it does not have access to the Google Play Store. This means you would need to use the features already installed.
I hope this helps!
