    The guys a this shop give the worst customer experience I've had in a long time. Not only were they rude and condescending, but they straight up misquoted me. I went home to check the estimated bills and it was over what they said - and I went in to see how I could reduce my bill (and they ended up raising it). I called in to examine their mistake and they did NOTHING about it. Been with AT&T for 20 years and am seriously thinking about swapping to verizon. Can't believe how bad of an experience I had here.

    Unprofessional & Dishonest
    We came into the AT&T store located at 1475 Broadway Ave. in Boise. I wish we never had. There was a sign outside about a promotion they were running to trade in an old phone for a new one. We were told that our old iPhones, an iPhone 5s and an iPhone 6, were both worth $350 and that we would just have to pay $50 out of pocket each to get the petite iPhone SE 2020 that we both wanted. Well, based on the stars we gave this AT&T location, you can guess that was a lie. Unfortunately the truth didn’t come out until they gave us AT&T SIM cards for our old phones, which was just supposed to cover the two-day delay in getting the new phones shipped to the store, as they simply had none in stock. Instead, our phones were switched over to AT&T and then we were informed that an iPhone 5s was worth “nothing” and that the iPhone 6 worth we were told was accurate, but could only be applied to a more expensive, larger phone. I was about to go through on the deal for just my phone, then was told that I’d have to pay bills for 6 months to prove my credit-worthiness and could no longer just order the phone given the credit check that came back (my credit score is good at 740+).

    From there we were told to try to go back to our old providers. So we did. But they locked our phone numbers we had transferred over to AT&T and set our existing phones up for WiFi-only service, so we were unable to use GPS, text, or make any calls—it only worked here and there when we were on WiFi. They were dishonest, rude after getting our phones switched to AT&T, and undertrained. I hope this happens to no one else.

    On the bright side, AT&T’s customer service when I called the phone bank to cancel and dispute the $166 bill that came from having our phones with AT&T for less than 4 days was amazing. They got rid of the bill, but they couldn’t give us our time back. It took us 3 visits, 5-6 hours, a salesman named Andy and his “manager” named Artemis to walk away with phones that didn’t work and a strong desire to never do business with AT&T again. They were asking all customers to leave positive reviews after someone else had left a negative one. I now know why. Save your time and go to Verizon—they’re at least honest.

    There is only one person there who knows anything about their promotions and how their system works. During purchase they offered full price for the old phone despite looking at the crack on the back. Another person gave completely incorrect payment information and cost. So after the purchase was made when we tried to return the old phone they said policies have changed in the past 2 days and said they can only offer 1/2 price. The bill generated was also incorrect. The young kid in the store needs a lot of training. He says one but then backs off. Blames it on the supervisor or the system. Very disappointing. We have bought phones there before (4 years ago) and people were much more experienced.

    This used to be a great location meeting all of my AT&T wireless needs. I went there today to get a new SIM for a replacement iPhone purchase. The current SIM failed along with the iPhone when both got wet. I was told by a short heavy set guy that all AT&T locations in the Boise area are now owned by a third party and as such we would be charged for a new SIM and even an eSIM. We learned this after questioning a very pleasant female associate about why this was not the case just a few months ago, and she went to the back to ask the "manager" for an explanation. He stated that he was upset because we were interrupting his lunch break, and we could call AT&T to try and get a refund, but he wasn't going to do anything to help. When I pushed a bit more explaining we just spent more than an hour on hold with AT&T before heading to the store, he said he had no better access to phone support than us and then abruptly asked us to leave or he'd call the police to report us as trespassing. AT&T has made a serious error handing over it's customer facing stores to a third party that appears profit-motivated with little concern for customer support or customer experience. If AT&T has truly chosen to no longer provide customer services through it's own brick and mortar locations, then I'm off to seek other options. Note that when I initially did get through to AT&T support after an hour on hold, I was told a QR code was needed to activate my eSIM and this could only be obtained at their retail store locations, or mailed through snail mail. Email was not an option :-( The AT&T call support person did not mention there would be any cost to either option. I've been an AT&T wireless customer for almost two decades, and I'm seriously disappointed in this change in customer support!
