Beautiful, functional
Blackberry finally hit a home run! I've been a loyal Blackberry user for about 15 years. I always felt "left out" of all the great new features and apps - not any more! The thing I like best about the Priv is how beautiful it is. Everyone is envious of me when they see it. It's a dream to hold, not too heavy, not too light, and it feels so smooth. The battery life is phenomena. The keys on the slideout keyboard are smaller than traditional Blackberrys, but still instinctive. And Android, oh my..Ve más

Great.. Until
I have had this phone for about 1 year now and have really enjoyed it until Blackberry pushed an update last month which causes the phone to lose service ("No Service") error. Blackberry is no longer building phones and has not indicated when they will fix this one.. DO NOT BUY, you will be stuck with rebooting this phone Many, many times a day!

Nothing but problems
I've had this phone for about 6 months now and the problems are endless. I have to constantly restart in order for the mic to work, lots of missed texts and now losing service randomly. Have been sent a replacement once and the same issues soon became a problem on the new unit. I've never had a phone with so many persistent issues.

Blackberry User for 12 Years The PRIV Fails
9 years ago
I bought 4 PRIVs for my business. An update was pushed to the phone and now none of the phones will stay on network and requires reboot to reconnect. Volume buttons push to easily causing the phone to mute ringer without user notification causing missed calls. Many more issues these are the top two. After 12 years of successful use of BB use this one has turned me away from BB I will probably not buy another one.

Don't Do It
If you are like me and have some misplaced nostalgia about owning a Blackberry again, do yourself a favor and buy something else. Anything else.
I wrestled with this phone for two hours, the Blackberry transfer app refused to work, so I had to resort to the ATT app. This only partially worked, and during this time the phone NEVER connected to the network.
Attempts to access the device manager were unsuccessful, with even my correct Google password being rejected.
Oh, and after all this the screen started blinking on and off. This is not only the worst Blackberry I have ever owned, but the worst Android device, a $50 Chinese phone is superior.
Sent back. Bye bye Blackberry, this time for good.

Worst battery ever
This could be the best phone I ever had if it did not run out of battery by 2:00 PM every day. My previous BlackBerry Classic would last all day long and I am not doing anything different. I am a physical keyboard guy and that is the only reason I have always had a BlackBerry. The very weak battery on the Priv might change my mind and make me switch to a different phone next time.

Q: is it prepaid or contract ?
1 Answer
A: Hi Jamel!
That question is a great one and I’m glad to help out here!
As it turns out, the only thing AT&T does a contract for is the phone itself these days. Those are done through AT&T Next Installment payments on postpaid accounts.
If you would like to use the Blackberry PRIV as a prepaid device, you absolutely can do that! You’ll need to purchase the phone outright, then make sure to install a GoPhone SIM card into the device.
You can explore both of those options, as well as get a demonstration of the phone by going to your local AT&T store! Take a look through our Store Locator to find the one closest to you. https://www.att.com/maps/store-locator.html
Thanks much for your question and I hope this helped out!

Q: Do you have to get a data plan to use the Priv, or can you get just voice and/or text-only?

Q: hey there, i'm from lebanon (middle east) and i have at&t blackberry priv I got it from usa, I want to know if I can update my software to marshmallow when the software be released or its just for usa users.

A: Hi Youss MG
That’s an excellent question, I’m glad you asked! In order to receive any updates from AT&T, it will require to have an active AT&T sim card and be in the AT&T coverage footprint. Without those 2 requirements being met, you will not get the update from AT&T,
I apologize. Blackberry might have an option to download the update file when Marshmallow for the Blackberry Priv is released, to side load it. Please visit http://us.blackberry.com/support/contact.html for Blackberry’s contact information.
Thanks

Q: When will the Priv get the Android OS Marshmallow update from? I understand that all Canadian carriers have rolled it out for several weeks now & fixes many issues. When is the update from AT&T going to be released - ETA? We've got 3 cells to update

A: Hi Davew47,
We are currently working very hard to bring Marshmallow to your device. We know how important it is to you that your device be updated with the latest and greatest features and security patches, and we thank you for your patience while we work to bring you this update.
Since the announcement of monthly Security updates by Google to the Android platform, this is an area that is constantly moving forward and can change on an almost daily basis. We want to make sure your device is secure in this digital age where more and more actions with your personal information are being handled by your device. Due to this, we are unable to provide a date for when the update can be released or forecast availability for other devices. When the update is ready you will receive a notification on your phone with step-by-step instructions with how to install the update.
Again we thank you for your patience and invite you to join our Marshmallow Updates & Discussion thread where you can get ready for the update.
Thanks,

Q: I bought blackberry priv online which is At&T unlocked forst iwanna know wht does this mean and the most important iwanna make sure does the blackberry priv english version support and read arabic messages and emails
10 years ago

A: Hello Tamo
Thank you for your question!
An unlocked phone means you can use the phone with other provider’s service.
The Priv comes with multiple languages installed including Arabic and also includes a virtual Arabic keyboard option.
You can also use the Priv’s Talkback feature to read your texts and emails.
Steps on activating this setting can be found on our Device How-To center at https://www.att.com/devicehowto/index.html#!/
There you’ll select the make and model of the phone, view all solutions then click settings and accessibility.
Hope this helps!
