DO NOT BUY if you like videos/MMS
This would be the perfect phone if not for this MAJOR flaw. It cannot record or play video and cannot send photo messages exept by email. This is a major design flaw. I really should have read up on it more before making my decision to purchase it. If you can make it around that flaw though...everything else is awesome. The GPS is amazing:-) I still would not buy it again. I'm returning mine.
Prosbattery life, ease of use, good for texting
Consno video/mms, email function designed poorly

Awesome GPS System - Not a quality smart phone
16 years ago
Pros:
I'm not much of a traveler, but i rely on my GPS quite a bit. I previously owned a BlackJack II with GPS capability, but the GPS system on this phone is top notch. I love the touch screen - no glare and firm grip of the Garmin. Wi-Fi capability is also great as it helps with faster loading while indoors. Cant complain much about the battery, since I had the same issue when I used GPS on my old phone. Easy file uploading and USB Charger is a plus.
cons:
*The Garmin could use a few more features with in the settings and accessories.
*Not much choice with customization of any kind such as: Ringtones(but i guess you can download your own music with the large memory), alarms, calendar, etc..
*Not the best email features.
*How the heck do I set up my voicemail message and erase messages? I tried, but the phone was not responding.
*If this phone's strongest feature is Navigation, why do you need to pay an extra fee to get all the features entirely? NOT COOL!!! I feel this is a gimmick.
*Portrait keyboard - why is it in "abc" mode? Makes it hard to text when in portrait display.
*I used to be able to see my alerts on the display screen and also get a reminder. I could be missing something, but with no display or reminder on this phone, I sometimes forget I even have an event - which is almost pointless to add it to my calendar.
Overall:
I am 50/50 on whether I would recommend this phone to a friend or not. My old phone was like my worshiped assistant - GPS was ok. This phone is like a bad assistant, but GPS is better than any other phone i've ever had. I am a little disappointed. Maybe i just need to get used to it.
Best if you're not into smart phones person, but need one. The phone could definitely use some improvements.
Prosdurable, ease of use, good for texting, Wi-Fi capable
This is a high quality unit, but don't expect it to be a true smartphone... the GPS is better than the GPS on my Blackberry Curve, and the unit feels rugged in the hand.
I found that after I retired, I used fewer and fewer Smartphone applications: Facebook, MediaNet, CNN, etc. The Garmin has a web browser and email, and the MP3 player is straightforward with good sound quality using Bluetooth stereo headphones. It has WiFi which I was able to connect fairly easily.
If you think of this as a 3G cell phone with excellent GPS, this is a good unit. If you want a Smartphone with lots of apps, stick with a Blackberry or iPhone.
Prosdurable, ease of use, menus, Wi-Fi capable, super quality gps
