VEER! VEER! VEER!

I am writing this review on my little veer right now. Perfect phone for small fingers or long fingernails. A smartphone for beginners who want an advanced phone w/o an overwhelming amount of junk on it. So fun, cute, and amazingly vivid and clear. Love this thing!

great size limited apps
The phone is great for size and potability. The touch screen and touch screen menu are very user friendly but that's about it for the perks.
The phone has limited apps for adults; meaning practical lifestyle apps. The ability to connected via social network and text messaging is a plus for the limited apps. The camera takes grainy pics and is hard to use because of the location of the shutter button on the touch screen.
The camera has potential but it fails to live up to the advertising hype. I hope it grows into expectation.

a basic phone. you get what you paid for.
let me start off by saying i got this phone because it is sleek and small compared to every other smart phone out there. i am a texter/talker/picture taker. so i need a phone that can allow me to do all these things with 100% efficiency 100% of the time.
the phone itself is very small and luckily it has a keyboard that slides out very smoothly and is still compact. the keyboard is FANTASTIC! i love the gummy raised keys that click. i do Not however love the way my hands feel cramped trying to hold and type on the thing. it is manageable but for a textaholic like me. . . not the most comfortable.
this brings me to another point. the notification settings on the phone are lacking. my last phone broke in which the vibration stopped working and so my phone was always on silent. well this phone might as well be. the settings for a text message notification when the phone it muted can not be changed. it can either be on silent or it can vibrate. BUT when it does, it does so ever so faintly and only once. its hard to notice in your pocket/bag/wherever and as i said before, for someone who texts 99% of their day, it doesnt hold up.
the sound system is a PLUS. this has a nice sounding speaker for your music which can get pretty loud for its small size. lets you transfer your uploaded music into ringtones. a PLUS
talking on the phone. the veer is different in thefact that when you bring it up to your ear to talk on the phone, the screen turns off and seemingly locks. this is great because touch screens can often hang up on people when your cheek acciently touches the hangup button. well when you bring the phone down and away from your ear it turns back on. this is also very weird because even if you lock the phone while you are talking on the phone, when you pull it out from your ear it unlocks itself. being someone that talks on the phone at night and often falls asleep with it, this bothers because i dont feel safe knowing it could potentially dial someone or something when i am unaware of it, SO this does NOT work for me. if i lock the phone i would like for it to stay locked until i physically unlock it.
the internet on this thing is amazing. absolutely ridiculous how fast it is. for as small as this little thing is it packs a mighty powerful punch which lies in its internet capabilities. it plays CLEAR youtube videos and even plays songs on websites that have them. this is possibly the best thing about this phone. ** this phone also has a setting that allows you to turn off the data usage on it, basically disabling it from being able to connect to the internet and send data of any kind which is a SAVIOUR when you only have 2oomb of data a month.
the menu and launcher can be personalized in many ways. BUT the phone itself only comes loaded with very few tool apps. my last phone samsung jack came with every tool app you could ever need including: notepad which served as my daily diary, powerpoint, word, calculator that went scientific and helped in math class, a stopwatch, currency and time converter, voice notes etc etc. i never realized how easy it made life to have those things on my phone until i didnt have them at all.. . . this being said. the veer comes loaded with a tasks app, a calculator that only does the very basics you can pretty much do in your head, calender, and memo/stickynotes app. thats just about itt. theres nothing really to great about any of those. and they arent very useful either.
lets get to the camera. the veers camera takes 5megapix pictures which look nice.. ...in PERFECT lighting. i only say this because the camera app does not have a flash or anything but a shutter button. you can not adjust the lighting, zoom, add sepia tone or black and white, whitebalance, ANYTHING . it supposedly has an autofocus. which i honestly would never be able to notice. the camcorder is the same thing. so you can get a nice looking video with GREAT sound btw. but its pretty basic. oh yeah you can also very basically edit the length of the video clip.
music. the veer comes with 8 gbs of internal memory which is beyond amazing. i could upload all the music from my library if i wanted and it would play in a crisp loud speaker. PERFECT. not so much. there is no headphone jack in this thing. its so small they had to sacrifice it for a detachable adapter which was pointless bc its so small it can easily get lost. but i guess its nice to know i can still listen to music. NOT. this brings me to another point...
the battery. the battery life on this phone is TERRIBLE! for all the great things it can do:play good sounding music, play amazing looking videos, etc... you cant enjoy any of it because the battery wont last you more than an hour if you do. for as much as i text i have had to cut down my texting out of fear my battery will die. its such a CON about this phone. it would be a keeper if the battery was made to last throughout the day when using all the good things it has to offer. it might be the ultimate deal breaker for me. i have never had to lug a charger around with me throughout my day just incase my battery dies.. it SHOULDNT. and this battery life will last you a whole day if that with very fair internet use and a good amount of texting.
the operating system itself is very nice. it is quick to respond to the commands i give it (most of the time) but there are a few glitches in the system. my camera freezes every once in a while and will go completely grey. the phone freezes up when you are running too many apps at once. and even when you are not doing anything it fails to respond at times all together. the phone system itself is pretty easy to use and doesnt take much longer than a few hours to get the hang of.
over all this phone is alright. its not the best phone and its not the absolute worst. i do not love it but i do not hate it. I am in love with the idea and small size of it but i think hp could have worked out a way to make this phone the absolute best it could be. the battery is mostly the deal breaker as i do not feel like i should have to worry about how much and how long i use my phone out of fear the battery will die before i get home to charge it. it doesnt withstand the amount of texting and talking i do on the phone a day,,, let alone if i were to use the internet for all its glory. the camera on this phone is weak to say the least. i am not a fan of cramping my hands together to text. as a girl with smaller hands that must say something. the phone is cute and compact but you really are only getting the basics for what you pay for it.
all this description for the 4 short days ive had it. i definitely think its going back.

I'm terribly disappointed in HP.
I purchased the Veer because of it's sleek size (Best Selling Point) and it boasted of being a 4G device. The first one I received would black out, thinking it was a fluke i ordered another, which having had less than thirty days just went off and didn't come back on at all. I primarily use my phone just as a phone not a pda so i wasn't online much, and when I was it was twitter or facebook. I expected so much more from this phone since it is an H.P. It acted more like an L.G. I'm going with another brand, needless to say.
