Great New Version Bigger Battery Clearer Screen
This is a really good phone. This new version, allows you to block phone numbers unlike the previous model. It is a little heavier and 1/6 inches longer and thicker (bigger battery). The screen res is great and it lets you assign numbers and quick access buttons as shortcuts. I do wish they had keep the quick delete on call log. It takes a couple more steps now, but what a nice phone.
The new ECO POWER SYSTEM is an "about time" feature. After you charge your phone to 100%, set to ECO AUTO modVe más

Sucks that you can't get a good flip phone
Had a Samsung Rugby II, for a decade plus. It worked ALWAYS! It had the original battery!AT&T shut me down after killing 3G. This poor excuse for technology drops out ALL the time. Does not have a way to transfer multimedia pictures off the phone after they are texted to me. I can't call someone that has texted me directly. It got wet while in my pants pocket and walking in the rain for 15 minutes and had issues with charging for a while. Thanks AT&T for all the headaches.

PREDICTION TEXTING IS ATROCIOUS
For every word, you have to arrow down and choose the word from a long list and the most obvious word is often not first in the list. The first is always the numbers that you just typed in - HOW BRILLIANT!! Just to get "I" you have to click 4 times!! "I'm" - 5 clicks. Then obvious words are missing from the dictionary like "How's" and "Ryan". It DOES NOT CAPITALIZE NAMES and it appears you cannot add words to the dictionary. You can create a separate list of "My Words", which the manual does not explain what that means. It does not add them to the prediction dictionary. I'll have to contact tech support about that one. When you hold the backspace key it deletes your entire text rather than just the word, which I don't like. The Browser is not user-friendly IMO. Prediction is only available on the top search bar, not in the search engine field bar, which is limiting. Otherwise, phone volume is nice and loud, service with AT&T has been far superior to Verizon at our location. Keys are nice and clicky and responsive. Overall seems solid and well built.

Needs Software Updates

T9 is not as good, what happened to xT9 from previous models? When you press 4, a capital I should always be the first option. This would make texting much better.
Please change the messaging app layout to not have the contact photo so large either. It'd be better to have more space for the person's name/number and the preview of the last message.

rugged but crappy OS

Second worse phone I've ever had. Every call is listed individually instead grouped by name or number. Doesn't have talk to text which the lowly Cingular flip replacement had until a software update removed it and Google Assistant. Keypad regularly types the wrong letter. If I could get rid of it I would but it's past the trade in period. I hate it. Rugby was superior.

Happy Phone Owner

I received my Kyocera DuraXE about a week ago. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend. I wanted a reliable phone that would support a less technology focused lifestyle. Easy to use. Does what I need. No more temptation to be staring blankly at smartphone screen for my remaining life. For me it's a great escape from smart phone-itis. Great for anyone seeking simplification. Expect an adjustment period if you are moving over from a smart phone along with some of the relearning and setup time that may result with a different type of phone.

Q: Is the actual incoming (speaker volume) loud for the hard of hearing seniors? My 88 year old hard of hearing grandfather currently has the Alcatel and can't hear anything on it, so has me recruited to find him another phone.
1 Answer
A: Hi @chassy225,
It has been on a few senior recommended lists. It should be good for your grandfather and if not, please note there is a 2 week buyer's remorse period just in case.

High accuracy: Use GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks to determine location.
