Forward your voicemails to an email address

Learn how to send all your received voicemail messages as a text transcription to read, print, or save. Transcriptions will be sent as a text attachment.


Turn on message transcription

  1. Go to the AT&T phone portal. Sign in with your member ID.
  2. Select Voicemail Settings.
  3. Select Message settings, then Message Transcription and turn it ON.
  4. Select Save.

Forward a single voicemail

  1. Go to your Voicemail Inbox.
  2. Select the message you want to forward to email.
  3. Click and expand on More options
  4. Select Forward to email.
  5. Follow the prompts to send the transcript.

Send all voicemail as a transcript

  1. Go to Voicemail Settings.
  2. Select Message settings, then expand on Forward Messages to Email and toggle it ON.
  3. Select whether you want to keep your original voicemail message after forwarding from the drop-down.
  4. Enter the forwarding email address in the Email field.
  5. Select Include message management links in forwarded message. This allows you to perform actions such as deleting messages or marking them as read. When you get your first forwarded message, select one of these links (like Mark as Read) to completely activate this feature.
  6. Select Save.

Good to know: The accuracy of your transcription may be affected by the caller's pronunciation, background noise, or call quality. Short or unclear messages may not be transcribed.

  1. Go to your Account overview and go to My digital phone.
  2. Select Check Voice Mail, then Voicemail Settings.
  3. Look in Voicemail box preferences and expand the Message Transcription section.
  4. Select On and then Save.
  5. Next, expand the Message Forwarding section and select On.
  6. Select Forward incoming messages and keep original from the drop-down menu.
    • To activate the message management links, perform an action such as Mark as Read when you get your first forwarded message.
    • You'll be asked to authenticate with your pre-populated 10-digit phone number and the PIN used to sign in to your voicemail mailbox.
  7. Enter your forwarding email address in the Email Address field.
  8. Select Include message management links in forwarded message. This allows you to perform actions such as deleting messages or marking them as read.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Expand the Message Transcription section and verify that it is On. If not, select On.
  11. Select Save.

Send your voicemail messages as text to an email address. Many Apple and Android devices are supported.

Enable Voicemail Transcription from the Voicemail Viewer app:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Transcription to be either on or off.

Note: If you change your home phone voicemail PIN, you must also change your Voicemail Viewer PIN to match.
