About the AT&T speed test

The AT&T speed test shows your baseline speeds. These are determined by using AT&T servers closest to you to measure the speed between your devices (including computers, smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and smart TVs) and the internet. The speed test takes less than a minute and checks two key measurements:  
  • Download speed (speed of data sent from the internet to your device)
  • Upload speed (speed of data sent from your device to the internet)

Test your internet speed

Test your device speeds:
  1. Go to the computer or device you want to test. Disconnect all other devices on your network to avoid Wi-Fi® congestion, even if they aren’t using internet.
  2. If testing over Wi-Fi:
    • Make sure the wireless device has a clear line of sight, about 10 feet from your Wi-Fi gateway or All-Fiâ„¢ Hub. Devices using older standards like 802.11b or 802.11g can’t get faster speeds. 
    • Disable household devices that may create wireless interference, such as Bluetooth® devices, wireless phones, baby monitors, and other wireless video devices.
  3. Close apps on the device you're testing.
  4. Run AT&T internet speed test.
