This is one amazing mobile product! I normally do not write reviews but I just had to write one about this product.
I've used mobile internet since early days with the 128k Ricochet PCMCIA cards. Being a field based resource for a large IT company I need consistent connectivity for multiple devices (laptops/tablets). I've used every device on every network worldwide and have found ATT 4G/LTE to be the most reliable/fastest and the Unite device to be the easiest I've used!

Not gaming console friendly
Although this device works as it should, it advertises that you can connect your gaming consoles to it. It sets your NATto type 3 strict which means it is limiting your content. After chatting with a tech i was informed that although the device description says it can do this, their network is not capable of doing this, the ports that you need to be open are blocked and they cannot be unblocked. So the whole reason i bought the device was to play my xbox or playstation 3 online with my friends jSee more

Amazing!

USB devices while good simply are a challenge to set up and you usually cannot share. You are required to install software on your computer which takes over the native functionality of Windows of OSX Its usually a challenge to set up, it never works, crashes and when you have an update it almost always goes wrong. It also kills your battery life and you can snap it off in the USB port (I've done this).
With the unite all you do is simply turn it on and connect to with your wifi; that's it! All you need to know to connect to the Unite is presented on the large color display. Battery life is amazing; all day (over 11 hours) and since it uses usb you can use you existing chargers.
I also like the fact the device is "No frills". It doesn't have anything extra which doesn't drain battery life like a memory slot. I've used memory slots with MiFi devices; they are slow and draw down our WiFI bandwidth. If you need to transfer files get a USB stick! It also has the ability to attach a booster antenna to it for those times you are out in the sticks.
I also like how it displays your transfer amount and how many days are left in your contract. You do not need to launch an application or log in to a website.
For me I've been able to keep the device in my car or backpack when I make a customer call; completely out of site. Many customers will ask you to remove a USB device for "Security" reasons (remember most USB devices double as a memory stick - a security risk).
In short BUY THIS DEVICE! Don't waste your money on a USB device or another more fancy looking MiFi's that use special SIM cards and batteries. You'll love the device and ATT 4G/LTE (I get 10mb down and 2mb up - DSL speeds)!

Great device for work and play
I travel 75% of the time for work, I have this set up in my RV to use for work and for gaming. It has been a solid device from day 1. It works well with my vpn system for work and in my spare time I use it for on line gaming with my Xbox One and PS 4.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good, Needs Work
I've been using the Unite hotspot for about six months now. Connecting new devices to it is relatively simple but there are a few gotchas that have bitten me.
First, my windows laptop will, after hours of use, sometimes lose the ability to resolve HTTP when using this device (and only this device) causing web page requests to hang forever. The only fix I've worked out is to reboot the computer. PING still works when HTTP doesn't, suggesting some sort of resolver problem. Because this doesn't happen on my other networks it more likely is an issue at AT&T's end than mine.
Second, speed at Metrotech in Brooklyn where I work (with three bars sig strength) is abysmal. Truly AOL dial-up speeds at times. I never seem to see any sort of persistent activity on the 4G indicator either, though it occasionally twitches. This is annoying because I bought the device for at-work private internet connectivity (my corporate firewalls block software forums and won't allow me to download manuals etc). I'm currently watching a 105 MB download to my laptop bouncing around a predicted 1hour 15 minute delivery.
Third, the Unite screen has no security lock. If you leave it unattended, anyone can access any screen and all parameters, including the connection "secret" code (which is displayed openly on the screen by default). This is just silly. Every phone offers the option to put a security lock on the controls, and has done for over a decade.
So four stars instead of the five it was on track for when it was still in the box.

Does the job but display very fragile
This unit is perfect for my use. We travel a lot and in the car use has been fantastic. I was able to cancel my ipad data service and use the ipad wifi connection in the car and on the road in the hotels. Have connected 4 pc's at a time and still was happy with the throughput. Replaced my old USD Mercury data connect finger and would never go back.
Investigating using it as my exclusive internet connection at home and shutting off my cable internet.
Very disappointed in display, very fragile. Had it in my bag and after I removed it I found out the display had been damaged. No way to get it repaired. Make sure unit is in a protective case when not being used.
Battery is annoying in that you can't keep it plugged in. Once battery is charged the screen tells you to disconnect powercord, guess you can't keep it connected after full charge.

A: Howdy Drena,
That’s a great question and a great solution!
You can certainly purchase any device at full price (including GoPhone’s) and use it on your AT&T postpaid account!
You can use the Samsung Galaxy Go Prime and continue to pay the AT&T Next installments on the Samsung Edge.
The Samsung Galaxy Go Prime, will come with a pre-paid SIM card as it is sold as a GoPhone. You can use your current activated AT& SIM card in the Go Prime if it fits.
If not, you can swing by your local AT&T corporate store and get a new postpaid SIM card activated at no cost.
Please visit https://www.att.com/maps/store-locator.html and locate an AT&T store near you and set up an appointment, if you are needing to get a new postpaid SIM card.
Hope this helps!

A: Hello mzundersttd
Thank you for posting your question, and I apologize about the issue you are having. I researched the location your question was posted from and found that AT&T does offer data service for the Mobile Hotspot in Flint MI.
Please visit https://www.att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html to view AT&T’s coverage map. I would recommend to connect with AT&T at 1-800-331-0500 and speak with a representative to ensure this is the case. Unfortunately, AT&T is not able to unlock Mobile Hotspot devices to be used on another carries network.
Thanks

Q: what is the maximum distance the unite 2736 will send

A: Hello edjast-
That's a great question!
I connected with Netgear and was advised the connection can reach a distance of up to 50 feet, given there are no obstacles or any other items that will block the signal.
Check out http://www.att.com/support_static_files/manuals/ATT_Unite.pdf for the user’s manual.
Hope this helps!
