I've had this phone now for close to a week, and overall I am really impressed with it. I am not a teenager, but I still think the phone is pretty cool.
The phone dialer is the only thing that is touch-screen. All of the other functions of the phone need to be done with the keyboard/d-pad. This may prove to be a problem if the touch-screen ever goes haywire later down the road. You are able to dial phone numbers from the keyboard.
Pros:
Good battery life - charged the phone Saturday evening, and did not need to be charged again until Tuesday afternoon (even with me playing around with it).
Good camera - some people are complaining about the camera with this phone, just remember, it's a phone. I think the pictures I have taken with it are really crisp & clear. I also like the way the phone displays the pictures in its album.
Text conversations - I like the way the phone displays text messages, as if you are having an actual conversation with the person.
Ability to use Mp3 ringtones - once I actually figured out how to get them into the phone, my overall feeling of the phone improved. It is not easy (at least I thought so) to figure out how to get ringtones into the phone.
The screen - I think the colors/vividness of the screen is excellent! Close to that of an iPhone, except in direct sunlight - I have a hard time seeing the screen if standing in direct sunlight.
Cons:
The phone dialer - it can only be used for dialing numbers, and it disappears soon after the call is in progress. This is annyoing if you are calling something like an automated line, or a voice mail, and need to select an option. You have to hit the key for the dialer again to get the number keys on the screen (or slide the keyboard open).
The overall feeling of the phone - I don't know, it may be me, but this phone feels really "plasticy cheap" and like it could break into pieces the first time it falls.
Charging - I miss the days of cell phones when all you had to do was plug a charger into the bottom of the phone to charge it up. This phone requires you to open up the port (with really cheap feeling plastic covering it), to charge it. This is also where you'd plug in the USB cord should you get one for this phone. The Micro-USB port has the same small type of plastic cover, and both feel as if they'd break off really easy.
Navigating - It's a bit werid, and requires some getting used to. I especially don't like how you'd have to scroll through your entire contact list to get a number, unless you have the keyboard open and type the letter of the name you're looking for. I wish this could be done with the phone dialer.
To sum it up - I am pleased with this phone. It is an upgrade from my old Nokia 6000 series phone from 2006. It is similar to my wife's Pantech Matrix, minus the number slider. The features are good.
It is only tri-band, but I don't need any more connection than what it offers. It is Edge only, not 3g, so that may be a problem for some, but not for me.
I would recommend getting a case & a screen guard for it though, that may help it survive a fall.
