Best OS, great design
I have been a windows phone fan for years, this is my third model, third OS upgrade. Still discovering some functions, enjoying them all, so far.

Good, but died a little after a year.
I got this phone in November of 2015, and loved it. Everything just worked.
However, it is now January 2017, and it no longer stays on for more then about 30 seconds without being plugged into it's charging cable. It will shut itself off, and not even allow me to get my pictures off it because apparently my computers USB 3 port doesn't give it enough power.
I didn't get insurance as I actually take care of my devices. It looks like it just came out of the box.

easy phone to use! Packed with lotsa features
10 years ago
I was amazed at how easy the phone is to use. The features are intuitively designed and makes using the phone seem always familiar. Everything seems placed for ease of use, from the live tiles that gives you information without needing to click on the app to 'glance screen' that gives you info about your notifications without you needing to even unlock the phone. And the best new feature of all, 'windows hello'...unlock your phone by just looking at it. it recognizes your eyes!

Great phone, some Windows 10 bugs.
Background: devoted Lumia 1020 user, so I have been eagerly awaiting this phone.
Pros: The phone is sleek, powerful w/ all of the capabilities it has advertised. It's nice to have the camera button there. Haven't used all of these capabilities (like added storage) but am planning to. One thing I'm seeing come up as I load some apps is some of the music apps are not smart enough to recognize your SD card, but that is clearly an app developer issue.
O/S: Windows 10. I've had the phone for 2 days and it's hit or miss. I'm finding that the live tiles screen often locks up and freezes and you have to wait for it to unfreeze. This is particularly evident when trying to organize the tiles. Also, if you set the tile background to "light" (white background), it performs even worse. So you may want to make sure you don't have too much running in the background and maybe not enable toast notifications for any apps. I turned one on this morning, and it has degraded performance.
No Cooling: As has been noted, the phone gets very warm (even hot) when doing certain activities (downloading apps, using the camera for an extended period of time). Really wish this had the liquid cooling like the 950XL. I read that AT&T is not going to offer the XL so the fate of the Lumia has to be somewhat in question.
The camera: If you're a 1020 user, there's a lot of give and take here. Flat out, nothing beats the 1020's 41MP camera when it comes to taking photos with adequate lighting. Still, the photos on this 20MP camera are better than about anything out there, but do come out a bit grainy when blowing up photos or sharing to the web. That said, the camera on the 950 does far better in low light situations and the overall lighting finish on the photos is on par with Galaxy S6. Also, the 5MP front facing selfie cam on the 950 is clearly superior to 1020. Lastly, this camera seems to handle moving objects much better than the 1020.
Music: No obvious difference in sound quality. The Groove Music app is step down from the Xbox app, so find something 3rd party (N7 player is decent). I'm still looking for the perfect music app.
Call quality: Seems about average, a step up from the 1020 at least.
Apps: Not an issue for me. I have 100+ apps on my phone. Not sure I need more. Seems to be a wider selection with Windows 10.
Bottom line: If you can wait, I suggest giving Microsoft some time in working out some of the Windows 10 issues. Or jump right on board, and go along for the ride. I suspect this will the last Lumia phone and I'm happy to own it. I just wish AT&T offered the XL.

Better than iPhone and Android
Have had iPhone and Android phone. Like Windows phone much better. Works like Windows 10 on laptop or tablet. Main limitation is apps but can access almost everything with browser. If more people tried Windows phone, think they'd like it better, sales would increase and developers would produce more apps.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Works well for me!
I got this as a second phone. I have a work-issued phone, but wanted a personal one. Since this would be a second phone, I could take a chance outside the usual Android/iPhone choices. I've been pleasantly surprised. Yes, the app store doesn't have as much as the other stores, but pretty much everything I need is available. Plus the phone comes with all the Office tools, the camera works great and the phone integrates well with cloud services and my PC. I haven't tried Continuum, but look forward to trying it.
The big consideration was the "usability" factor, but I have found it to be pretty easy to use. Things are different from iPhone/Android, but it is all there and intuitive to use. The live tiles are great, and the main screens are much more adjustable than my work's iPhone. The app's interfaces are consistent, and work well.
This is my second phone, but I could definitely use it as a primary phone. It is a great tool!

Q: can I buy this phone and put a Verizon sim card in it?

A: Hey mike1994,
This is a very good question Mike! You can definitely use this phone on Verizon’s network. In order to do this you would need to buy this phone outright, and then submit a device unlock request. Once this is completed you can then put a Verizon SIM card in it. Just a F.Y.I. since this phone is designed for the AT&T network you may not be able to receive updates to this phone off of Verizon’s towers. You can check out the device unlock requirements at this link. You will want to continue as a non-AT&T customer for the request. (www.att.com/deviceunlock)
I hope this helps!

A: Hey, jimowen!
Our HD Voice coverage is almost completely covering the US at this point, and we hope to fully encompass all of our customers in the upcoming months. For most phones, the Wi-Fi Calling is reliant on the HD voice programming.
The second piece of the puzzle for the Wi-Fi Calling is an operating system update for the phone. At this time, we have not received the programming compatibility from Microsoft. As soon as it comes through, the update will be pushed out to your phone! I’m hoping this will be available soon, as it is a great feature you will be able to enjoy.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 does support screen mirroring via the Miracast feature, you will just need to ensure your TV support this feature.
