Nice Smartphone with a Physical Keyboard
For the most part I've had no issues with the Samsung Captivate Glide. I chose the Glide over the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Skyrocket primarily for the Keyboard. Even with the addition of the keyboard, the phone doesn't feel heavy or bulky to me, and it fits nicely in a pocket.
Like any new phone, there is a slight learning curve as you learn where things are and how the phone is programmed, but once you learn, it's a simple, quick phone.
I had no issues with setting up Wi-Fi for it, and the auto-off feature of the Wi-Fi (meaning it only uses battery/cpu if connected to a Wi-Fi network is nice. If I need it, it is on and connects to authorized networks automatically, so there's no need to actually turn on the Wi-Fi. The GPS has a similar functionality setting, so GPS can be on, even if I'm not using something (such as a navigation tool) that requires GPS.
Streaming Videos from Youtube, or downloading Apps from the Android Market has been a breeze with this phone. I have not encountered any lag or freeze issues.
However, the phone isn't perfect, though some of the issues may be more Android OS related than the phone itself.
My most major dislike about the phone is the screen size. While 4" is nice, this would be a much nicer 4.3" screen phone.
Other dislikes include the fact Android has no alphabetic sorting for icons in created folders. They simply display in the order they were entered. But, as the saying goes - There's an App for that.
The other dislike (as I've read elsewhere) is applications don't always close upon exit, so I end up going to Task Manager (or using the Active Application widget that is standard) to ensure all applications are closed before locking/shutting down.
To the people that say the battery life is too short.. helloooo - it's a smartphone.. if you are constantly listening to music, surfing the web, playing games, etc, then of course the battery is going to need to be recharged daily. But if you are a light user, the battery can easily last a few days.

i wish i had never picked out a samsung product!!!

The I love the display, ease of use and design of this phone. The camera is AMAZING… However, I have only had this for 6 weeks and its now messing up on me! All of a sudden, the ability to calibrate the screen just dissapeared from my phone. Also, I always now have to use the slide out keyboard. A lot of the letters on the touch screen will not work. I can use the phone, but I have to roughly slide my finger to get it to slide for anything. I also have to tap it roughly to do anything. Unless ATT can fix this to where I have the recalibration back on it, I don't know what I can do. My brother put me on his plan and got me this phone for christmas. So I am locked to this phone for 2 years. I hope ATT can do something, as I am very upset that my christmas gift from my hardworking brother is messed up :-(

Lovely Concept, Poor Execution.
In a market where actual hard-button QWERTY keyboards are quickly becoming obsolete, I was thrilled to find this phone almost two years back, believing it may very well be the last phone with such a keyboard I will ever own.
The general design of the phone is excellent. I have heard some complaints of the keyboard not being raised enough for ease of use. For me, this particular design 'flaw' never bothered me. The screen is a gem. Bright, clear, vibrant colors. I have never had a problem with the slightest crack or scratch on the glass, it is virtually indestructible, it seems.
The speed of the phone's functions is quite good. The camera is lovely, with great resolution.
This truly would be my dream phone, if not for one crippling fact : They just don't last.
The first one I got, I loved it from day one. Until the problems started. It had been a little over half a year when it began. The jack malfunctioned in some way and it became a dreaded task to get the charger positioned in my phone JUST RIGHT so it would charge. It all went downhill from there, with numerous software and hardware problems.
And then someone did me a favor and stole it when I left it behind at a restaurant.
As it happened, my local electronics store had ONE left and I quickly snatched it up, seeing as it was free (I used my dad's upgrade with his permission). I was hoping that perhaps, THIS time, I would have better luck.
Boy was I wrong.
Another half a year, and it currently cannot be taken off the charger or it will die almost instantly. I'm told this is just a straight up battery issue, and I am being sent one. I cannot help but notice the trend, though, and even if a new battery does fix my immediate problem, I fear it will only be a matter of time before it deteriorates farther.
If someone could make a phone very similar to this, and what's more, keep it on the market, it would make me a very happy camper indeed. I'm sure there's others like me out there that don't like touch keyboards. But alas it seems we are outnumbered.
So, bottom line : Awesome phone. Short life. Sad face. =[
ConsPoor quality, Did not meet expectations, battery failure, phone life expectancy, software glitches, hardware glitches (jack)
No, I do not recommend this product.

i love the slide out keyboard!!! and it does everything my laptop can do.its one of the best phones ive had for playing music and the camera takes excellet pic.
Great phone to start, but now the lock screen button apparently "sticks" but still has full range of motion. Meaning that the phone resets itself when it chooses. Also the battery doesn't sit completely flush, and when dropped in my pocket, resets itself. Otherwise the phone functions are pretty good. After a while using the keyboard, certain letters such as "E" will bring up email, in which case you have to reset the phone. (kind of annoying because nearly every word you type will almost always have an E)

Q: Is this phone still available?
I've wanted this phone since I went to the AT&T store when my brother had trouble with his (not the captivate glide), but since our contract wasn't up I couldn't get it. I looked and it said "out of stock" does that mean they are discontinuing it or that they just don't have any at the moment?

Q: Is this phone being discontinued?
This is the perfect phone for me. But it says out of stock on the website and I read somewhere that the phone is being discontinued in a few months. I won't have the money to buy it for another week and a half, so I really hope that the phone will keep in stores until then. I don't even want a smart phone if I can't get this one, this is my ideal phone because of the slide-out keyboard. Does anyone know if or when this phone is being discontinued, and if this phone will still be in stores a week and a half from now? The date today is 7/14/2012. Thank you all so much!

Q: Does this phone have a block caller optiopn like my samsung flight 2 does?
2 Answers
A: If someone is calling, you can reject the call by pressing the end call button. If you are wanting to block that person entirely, then after they've already called, go to the home screen and press the call button. It should pull up a list of past texts/calls you have made and received. Select the number that you wish to block and the "Block Caller" button should be at the bottom of the screen.
