So I looked this phone up, and it seemed like a good upgrade from the Blackjack II. At first, I thought the touch screen and the mouse would be cool, until I got the phone. Unfortunately, this phone is very hard to use. First off, if you're gonna have a touch screen, it is helpful for it to be big, so that the buttons you push are precise, but don't require extremely careful diligence. With this phone, its very easy to hit the wrong thing, or to have to look extremely carefully, whereas the Iphone and the Blackberry Storm, you have big icons, and all of the programs are easily accessible. There is just too much stuff on the main menu for a touch screen, and not that big a touch screen. Windows Mobile just isn't for touch screens, as you can't even scroll the screen with it, except at the bar, which is imprecise and annoying.
My second complaint about the phone is how user unfriendly it is. With the calendar, you can't even hit a button to go to the next day, and although you can use the touch screen, with you hands focused on the bottom of the phone, its terribly inconvenient. The main screen is also very hard to use, as it again requires moving the mouse, or touching it. The 4 way d-pad is no fun to use on this phone, as you got to be careful moving it, and it goes really slow.
With respect to the mouse, the feature takes away being able to scroll, as you can only hit the side bar, which is annoying. It was a well intentioned idea, but a poor one. I do like having a QWERTY for texting, which is the best thing about this touchscreen.
All in all, if Samsung were going to make a phone with a touch screen and keyboard, it should have just eliminated the mouse. If Windows mobile were touch friendlier, this would be the perfect phone, as the iphone and storm are hard to text on. No mouse would have allowed for a bigger touch screen, which would have been awesome were Windows Mobile suited to it. This phone was a good effort, but unfortunately, it loses the user friendliness of the Blackjack II, which does nearly everything this phone does, but in a way which users don't have to watch every move they make, and make them so carefully. While the BJII is no touch screen, at least its layout makes for a fun and simple way to go about the phone. If you were thinking this phone is an upgrade to the Blackjack II, think again.
