A no brainer for SONY Bravia HDTV and SONY Alpha camera enthusiasts
13 years ago
I love the way my many SONY devices work in digital cooperation among themselves. I don't think that the Internet reviewers have been able to grasp this important strand of pragmatic loyalism that only the SONY owners can probably fully comprehend.
The HDMI cable connectivity of this smartphone is not available on my daughter's iPhone 4s 64. It is a "WOW!" feature to be sure, especially with HD streaming video entitlements and frequent viewing of the recorded images from the smartphone in full HD at home on our SONY Bravia HDTVs..
The standard 16 GB internal memory can be easily upgraded with an inexpensive 32 GB micro SDHC.
The rear facing 12 MP camera features Exmor technology that allows for very respectable on-the-fly still images and full 1080p HD videos.
I was a hold-out for a smartphone, but the new technology grows on me by the day - especially the GPS interface with our Lincoln and Ford vehicles with SYNC technology.
Just show this large HD screen to an iPhone 4s user and watch them salivate.
Let's just hope that SONY and AT&T do not drop the ball this time on the Ice Cream Sandwich OS upgrade that has been promised.
It would be a boring world if everyone had to own the top-rated smartphone. Let the requirements of your real daily usage profile drive your decision-making. At the end of the day, this smartphone is optimized for the 1080p HD Blu-ray/PS3/Sony Alpha crowd.

I got this phone mid-August and loved it. I used it a lot, all the time, and I liked the ease of the phone and the way it was etc., but then around mid-October, it started getting slow, really slow, to load apps and send messages, it even started messing up the times it showed things were sent and opened. And then when I would call people, I could hear them pefectly, but they could not hear me unless I literally screamed. So I decided to get that one replaced, and got a loaner phone and I ended up liking that phone better than this one! Anyway, they had to junk my phone because it was so bad. I got the same type of phone again and after having it for a week and a half, it does not recognize any saved wifi networks and will not open them, and now when I turned my phone on, it is stuck on an extremely bright blackish colored screen.
It is safe to say, this phone is too much of a hassle to have anymore.

Great phone
I've had this phone since Aug. of 2012 and the phone is great, just be sure to update the OS.
I love the fact that it has a FM radio app, which the Galaxies phones dont, boss has a G II, wife has a G III - phones dont have an antenna in them, so downloading a FM app doesnt work. This was a big plus for me cause I listen to it in the morning at work to hear my favorite talk morning shows on the radio.
The display is phenomenal, the colors are great and vibrant especially with the Bravia Engine enabled.
I dont really have issues with the battery much unless I enable the Bravia Engine, then yes, that will drain your battery quicker than usual. This can be disabled under the Display setting, as can Xloud feature under Sound setting.
The sony walkman app and widget is great for listening to music, the equalizer is easy to mess around with and has some custom EQs built in. The ATT apps are useless to me, but cant knock the phone for it as this is an ATT feature.
You can also change the keyboard to the Xperia one, which is not the standard, believe the Andriod one is standard. Xperia one has the swipe feature and a few custom layouts, such as the old skool numpad way of texting. I enabled it just for the heck, felt very natural :)
I would recommend this phone to others.
This phone may be great from a game-playing, video-watching, app-using perspective. However, for every day business use, this phone is quite poor. A few complaints: 1) The email software is cumbersome and frequently retrieves the same email from the server, even if you have deleted it. 2) If not using a bluetooth, it is quite difficult to hear through the speaker for handheld use unless you have the phone precisely position next to your ear. 3) The reverse-side of the phone is curved. Thus, if use the calculator or other functions on a table-top surface, the phone rocks side-to-side while pressing the screen.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Had This Phone Since August 2012...
I mainly bought the phone because it has a 12 mega pixel camera. I like all the features, FM Radio especially, and I like that I can set up my homepage to auto alphabetize my apps.
To this day, I still enjoy my phone very much - I stream Netflix and watch movies on my phone. Recently I had trouble with extreme delayed response - when I call out, I don't hear the ring until 5-6 seconds later. Then when the person I am calling answers, there is a 5-6 second delay before I can hear them but they can hear me just fine. During all the delay for one reason or another, I was not able to surf the net on my 4G (I had my data ON). I had to reset my phone settings and it seems to be working fine now. I would like the battery to last longer than 16 hours - mine last 12 hours only because I surf the net a lot. The battery charger cord could be longer, too. But overall, it's a great phone; it's sleek and not too lengthy in size - I can use one hand to text or navigate the screen.
Proslarge screen, great camera, thin and sleek, sd card that allows for extra memory/storage, speaker
Consatt app that's pre dwnld dsn't work bc os is droid, since last upgrade unable to do screenshot, sometimes freezes for no reason
Yes, I recommend this product.

Love it!

I had this phone for 2 weeks and love it. This is the best phone that I have had in a long time. I love the clear photos that it takes, I also love the large display of text messages.

Q: Do you have to delete text messages?
I have an iPhone and I don't have to delete any messages and I have been looking for another phone. So do the messages stay on the phone or is there a capacity for messages?
1 Answer
A: Hi, Emily. We went through the user manual for the Sony Experia (http://soc.att.com/UEyTon) and could not find that answer for you. It has been a common experience that the amount of messages you can keep depends upon the amount of storage capacity on the device. This would be a better question for Sony. Here is the link for the support page for the Experia: http://bit.ly/UrNkMI . Should you have any more questions you can send us an email to ATTCustomerCare@att.com. We have folks available to answer your questions form 7AM - 10 PM CST Monday - Friday and 7AM - 4PM CST on Saturdays. Have a great day!

Q: Can I load my music from iTunes on my pc to the smartphone
13 years ago
2 Answers
A: The "full answer" is yes (AT&T's answer was too literal). Sony has a very nice "music bridge" program that you can easily load onto your PC (i think Mac as well). You can find it on the Internet.
iTunes "talks" to that Sony program and your phone can sync everything through that Sony program. Depending on versions, it can import playlists from iTunes and can sometimes also sync podcasts and other iTune media (not apps).
