The iPhone 6s is a really incredible smartphone, I admit, but is that really enough?
I'll do this in a pros / cons format.
- The design is nice and looks pleasing to the eye, but it's also a bit slippery, and can be difficult and uncomfortable to hold in one hand. Also it's supposed to be a bit more durable, hopefully this pays off in real world usage.
- It's an iPhone, so it's incredibly simple to use, it just works. It's fluid, and it's easy to get things done. But it also doesn't have much customization and options like other smartphones available, and some things could be done differently, but Apple chooses the way they think is best.
- The screen is nice and bright, although it doesn't have the best resolution, it's one of the be best displays in my opinion, but it feels a tad bit small also.
- The camera is really great, but I feel they've barely improved anything from previous generations... Live photos are basically a gimmick, too cumbersome, always on, and take up way too much storage. Plus no support for sharing them for non iPhone users also.
- The battery life is very disappointing, unfortunately I don't get a full day's use out of it, I have to constantly charge it. If throughout the day, I'm checking email, browsing Facebook or twitter, texting, and taking pictures, listening to music, it's about 60 by noon, and in the evening it;s about dead unless I keep topping it up... I would expect better battery life, and it seems to be a bit less than last year's iPhone 6 also'
- The showcase feature is 3D Touch, it's actually pretty cool, it's a pressure sensitive display, that allows you to do more with the press of your finger. For example, I can press supported apps harder than usual, and it will pull up little Quick Actions that I can before launching the app, like if I pressed camera, it would bring up a menu to, take a selfie, take a photo, take a slo-mo video, or a regular video, and I would tap the one I want, and jump right into that option. It just makes things a bit easier and quicker, and it works throughout the OS (Operating system) but right now it's more of a novelty, and lots of third party apps I can see will make good use of it, but for now it's limited in what it can do.
- It handles basic functions, like making calls, texting, browsing the web, and downloading apps pretty well, again it's simple and easy to use, but a lot of it isn't much different from other phones, but it does them well.
Overall, this is a pretty great phone, but I feel like it's new features, live photos, 3D touch, and others, aren't as important as they could be, and many users just won't use or take advantage of them. What it does as a smartphone, it does very well, but it doesn't have a lot that I would say justify upgrading, or choosing this over other phones that offer a bit more, if not in a more complicated package. Also it's disappointing in some areas like battery life, which is very critical in my opinion, and the screen isn't up to snuff compared to other phones.
It's a great phone, just don't expect it to be too different from previous iPhones, and not much better than other Smartphones on the market, personal preference and your own opinions matter, go check it out and compare before you buy.
