Review of Botnet Activity on the Public Internet

0:00
An ever increasing percentage of web traffic is machine generated through bots, but blocking all bots doesn’t solve the problem – in fact, sometimes it makes it worse. While some bot traffic is clearly malicious, such as those that distribute SPAM or launch DDoS Attacks other bot traffic is highly beneficial, for example bots that index sites for Search Engines. Perhaps the most interesting bot traffic falls into a grey area where they belong to your vendors or partners who don’t always follow agreed upon rules of engagement. Join this session for a review of bot traffic measured on the public internet and review the cyber-security implications of bots.
