Good smart watch
This is my second one, I love the watch. Its durable only thing i hate about this watch is the bands. They are not durable, the first watch i had i had to replace the bands a lot. I ended up getting an after market band and was better off! If you love your Samsung phone youll love the watch

Battery life
Battery life is horrible. I tried everything to keep it a live change my display and lower app use. I'm truly thinking of switching to a withing watch or fitbit.

10 early observations about the Gear S2 3G

I have had the watch for about 12 hours and have made the following conclusions:
1) Design. the watch is well designed and the bezel is a wonderful innovation for selecting items on the s screen. The bezel can be slippery however and is not always easy to grip if your hands are wet or dirty.
2) Software. the new Tizen software is very fluid and works well with the round watch face (a first for Samsung). Drawback here is the notifications. When multiple notifications come in, only the most recent shows on the watch face. If you do not scroll through the entire message, you will miss additional messages that came in at the same time. They are easy to find again however under the email or text message app on the watch. Deleting a message on the watch does not delete it on your phone.
3) Size and comfort. The size of the watch is not a problem, even for small wrists. It comes with two sets of watch bands for small and large wrists. The watch is fairly comfortable and does fit under my dress shirt sleeves even though it is a thick watch (1/2 inch thick case).
4) Connectivity. If you are considering this watch over the non 3g version it is because of the speakerphone and ability to use it independent of your mobile phone. The Bluetooth seems to stay connected well while you are near your phone, though there is sometimes a delay in the response on the watch when you connect to S-voice or another app that requires network connection. When you get the watch, many of the connectivity features (gps, nfc, wifi, and 3g) are turned off by default. Once you turn these on, things do work better. The optimal setting appears to be having the "auto" 3g feature. What this is is when you leave range of connection to your phone, a messages appears on the watch to tell you that it has lost connection and will be switching to 3g in 10 seconds. I waited and it did work. I verified this by using s-voice to call my work number and it connected without a problem. I will need to do more tinkering with this to see how well and consistently it works.
5) Apps. As most reviewers have already commented, this is a weakness of tizen. Particularly when it comes to finding businesses, restaurants, etc. and social media. There is Yelp, but it only suggests a list of the top 20 places around you, which it misses many other places that I frequent. There is no Facebook. Watch faces are plenty so don't worry there. Basically, the apps are good for notifications and maybe navigation (though I have not had time to really test this).
6) S-voice. This is perhaps my biggest frustration. S-voice is not reliable on the watch. I find that it does not connect to the server on about one out of three attempts. I also have to repeat what I am asking for about one out of every four times. It just seems to lag and be slow to respond. Also, S-voice will often tell you that "that feature is not supported" when you ask things like "how do I get home?" or find "china takeout in Miami." Seriously, this is Samsung's greatest weakness in my opinion. Sir (apple) and Google search (android wear) work great as a personal assistant, but s-voice is extremely limited to calendar, contacts, and asking what time the sun rises and sets. This is the watches greatest let down for me.
7) Battery life. I haven't had the watch long enough to give a solid opinion, but I have concerns. Today is my first day of a full charge and I am only two hours into the day and the watch is already down to 84%. I do not have WiFi, GPS, or 3g on. Nor do I have the screen always on mode. I cannot figure what is draining the watch at 7% an hour. Hopefully this improves or I will not make it though a full day.
8) Samsung Pay/NFC. I was very much looking forward to this feature for easy payment at the store. I have an 8 month old so my hands are often full. Unfortunately, Samsung Pay is only available if you have a Samsung Galaxy 6 or Note 5 device. Apparently my year old Galaxy S5 is too archaic to support this application (insert sarcasm).
9) Speaker. I was disappointed to find the volume and clarity of the speaker to be about 30% less/worse than the Samsung Gear 2 watch. It is hard to hear the prompts or caller at full volume if it is noisy around you. Basically, you will need to be in a quiet environment to have a conversation on this watch unless you get a Bluetooth earpiece (another battery drainer).
10) Number Sync. This is AT&T's way of using your main phone number on your watch as well. This feature is not yet available. What this means is that for now, your watch has it's own phone number should you lose Bluetooth connection to your mobile phone, the watch will use it's own internal 3g cellular transmitter with its own phone number. So, be sure to let your loved ones know about this new number if you plan to go cruising with just your watch (I'd love to ditch my mobile on the weekends, it's why I got the watch).
Overall, this watch has great potential, though it feels like a beta version in some ways rather than a market ready product. I believe most of this can be fixed with software updates, but Samsung HAS to improve S-voice capabilities for this watch to reach its potential. Also, Sammy, please release Samsung pay to other Samsung phones. Enjoy techies!

Ok watch, horrible GPS tracking, runners beware!

I loved the idea of a watch that has its own cell phone number, so when i'm using the it run, i have the safety of being able to call in an emergency with out having to lug around my big phone. Well, the GPS is horrible, i tried both the Nike app and the built in activity tracker with the GPS on and it is way off on its tracking. My runs that are 5 miles long are being logged as 3.5 miles. I just ran a 3 miler and it logged it at 2.1 miles. Also if you intend to use milk music while also using the Nike app think again. You can get both to work at the same time only if you start the Nike app first then milk music, but if you try to go back to the Nike app, milk music closes. I thought maybe i had a defect so i put in a claim for a new one and it is still the same. Sad that i have to pay for the service for 2 years.... If you just want a smart watch and don't intend to use it to run, then it is ok at best.

First smartwatch for me and I think it works great. The watch gives you nice watch face choices. The display is bright and easy to access function wheel. Holds a charge for days with short charging time when seated for charging. I wish there were more band choices available to be more feminine.

Terrible battery

I love Samsung products and was excited to get this as an upgrade to my Samsung Gearfit watch. The watch is nice, apps work great, cool watch faces - but the battery on this watch is worse than anything I've ever seen. I literally use it as a watch and check a few text messages, no other notifications, no battery draining watch faces and the battery doesn't even last the work day. What's the point? It wouldn't be so bad if you could actually hook it up to a charger, but they haven't even updated that yet, you still have to use the charging cradle, no way to just run the USB charger into the watch. Total disappointment from one of the biggest Samsung fans! :(
