Excellent device
I have it for 2 years and I think it is great. The only problem I have is that the battery does not last to long. I wish they come up with a new one that the battery last longer then a day. Otherwise it is great.

Must-have product!
I'm a busy mom with two kids, ages 7 and 10. They both have an Amber Alert GPS and think it's pretty cool (my son likes to wear it on his shoe while my daughter prefers the lanyard). My husband and I originally got the product for the safety and tracking features, not realizing just how much we'd use it in our everyday lives. Turns out we use the voice functionality pretty much every day with both kids. I love being able to check in, say hi, make sure they made it a friend's house etc. without having to worry about them having a cell phone.

Not accurate, short charge and DO NOT PURCHASE.

At first it solved all of our issues for our 5 year old. The concept is exceptional, a simple two way communication tool with one button for her to push to reach us in an emergency. No internet, no false calls (number is apparently only reachable from programed numbers) and GPS tracking with all sorts of relevant email alerts that can be adjusted. Well the battery does not last, after 2 weeks we started receiving low battery alerts after 5 or 6 hours while she was at school. This was after a full charge. More importantly we started receiving alerts that our 5 year old was a 1/2 mile from school in the middle of the day, and also at night when she was asleep in her bad. Predator alerts started coming at 2am as well as low battery alerts even while it was charging as well as fully charged. Fortunately we bought it from ATT w/o the 2 year contract that amberalertgps sells or we would be out of luck. This is a know. Issue with Amberalertgps (the company that provides the service). My initial review included feedback on my experience about trying to call however I was told via email to remove that part. This product created anxiety and legitimate panic situations. You have been warned.

Good for communication, gps location is off.
We've had it for several days now. It's great for letting my son and I communicate when he's at a friend's house. I do feel like he is a little safer because we will at least have a general idea of where he's located at if something happens. However, it has told me that he's out of the safe area and down another street when he (and his gps) are right here in the house with me. So, it cannot be relied on to let a child play outside know he doesn't wander off too far then. My cell phone manages to always have an exact location on where I am, so I'm not sure why this is unable to do the same thing.
Yes, I recommend this product.

A: Hello there Cbeas,
Thank you for your interest in the Amber Alert GPS! It’s a great device to have to help keep tabs on children 2 to 10 years of age.
It will not require a separate plan besides, an AT&T plan to use the Amber Alert device. It will however require for you register the device with Amber alert.
Please visit https://enterprise.aa-gps.com/login to get registered.
Thanks for posting your question!

Q: I've purchased some a few Amber Alert GPS in Nashville, TN. Can I just take to local AT&T to get service set up?

A: Howdy Pizza,
Thank you for your interest in getting AT&T service set up on your Amber alerts!
If the Amber alerts you purchased are AT&T branded, you can stop by any AT&T corporate store and have them activated.
Please visit https://www.att.com/maps/store-locator.html to locate a store in your area, and set up an appointment to avoid waiting times.
Thanks,

Q: Does this provide global coverage?
I will be travelling to France and Amsterdam later this year and would like a GPS tracking device for my son that will work globally. Is this device able to track locations abroad as well as in the US? Thank you!

1 Answer
A: The Amber Alert GPS Smart Locator is dependent upon two technologies – GPS (Global Positioning System) and wireless communications or cell phone (GSM). Anywhere you can receive both a GPS signal and have cell phone reception, the product will work. The subscription plans that are available through Amber Alert GPS are based on usage in the United States. If you are planning on leaving the country, then roaming charges will apply. Please keep in mind that different rates apply for different countries. You will be billed approximately 2 months later. Visit http://bit.ly/1ksXPiu to learn more.
