Does not work!
I bought this product a couple of days ago and it doesn't even work. I wanted to use this device because I drive a lot for my jobs and I wanted to keep track on the health of my car while I'm on the road. The app that goes along with this device is awful. It doesn't want to update or tell me about my recent trips. It haven't worked since I got it and I'm in my return policy and I'm returning this device. I would not recommend this device to any of my fellow friends or colleagues.

Easy to install and use but the user interface is a little dated...
I received one of these from my parents a few weeks ago, they are tech junkies, and I have been playing with it for some time now. They wanted me to use it because I am not the best driver XD (I have had a few speeding tickets/traffic violations in my day) They thought it would help out in that respect and it has. I was a notorious text-er while I drove and really had no self control to stop it myself! The product gives you access to the Zoomsafer app that blocks your phone while you are driving and I am sure it has saved me from a fender bender or two already.
Install:
It was as easy as plugging in an USB. Literally I just plunged it in and turned on the car. There are a few steps to set up the app but it is more profile setting up than installing. It was actually a pleasant...I thought it was going to be a hassle to set up.
Features and Use:
The main thing the device does is track your car and give you feed back on your driving habits. It gives you a neat little map showing your "trip" and also calculates your MPG and how much you spent on gas. It calculates a "driver score" for you that is based on how often you are accelerating to fast, breaking to hard, or taking turns to sharply. I haven;t had a chance to use it but the device also reads your engine...like if your engine light comes on IT TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG. Talk about useful! Ever since my auto mechanic class in HS I was warned about mechanics scamming people into getting more work on their car than they needed. Now I can walk in and tell them what is wrong...not the other way around. I really cannot wait to do this.
So I guess I should say some things I don't really like about it...one is the price but I don't really have to deal with this (parents can be awesome sometimes). The biggest problem I have and it is not even really a problem...is the dated UI. It just looks old but I am sure that could be changed with an update...and seeing how this just recently came out I bet there will be one soon.

Horrible changes to monitoring!
I have had my device for a year and monitor my teenagers driving. They "upgrade" to 2.0 a few weeks ago and it is horrible. I contacted customer service and they agreed they had a lot of complaints about the changes and were working on fixing things. The changes didn't help. It is more about "sharing your info with friends" then monitoring.. things . It no longer simply displays the most useful information and you have to go through a ton of steps to find anything. I am very disappointed, would love to go back to the"old" version!

Okay product

I bought this product thinking it was something else. I returned it to get what I actually wanted. While I had it hooked it it worked okay. The location device was not very good. While I was at work it said that I was 3 miles away.

Q: I have a 2012 honda odyssey will this work with the remote door locks
8 years ago
1 Answer
A: Hello nipster111,
This information can be viewed on the manufacturer’s site at http://www.carconnection20.com/. If you want to remotely start, unlock, and lock the vehicle, you would need to add the Accessory Kit.
I hope you found this useful!

A: Hello Anita730,
There is definitely a lot of convenience on having a hotspot in your car other people can use. If you are looking for a Wi-Fi device such as this, the ZTE Mobley would be a great choice! Please visit the product page for more information: www.att.com/devices/zte/mobley.html
Hope this helps!

A: Hi Jane, according to the description, this device should work on your vehicle and iphone. If your Honda has an OBDII port, it should work. The OBDII port is located under the dash generally below your steering wheel.

Q: Could the Car Connection 2.0 be used as hotspot as the ZTE Mobley?
1 Answer
A: Hello Luis D,
The Car Connection 2.0 is a great device which offers safety when on the road. It allows you to keep track of your driving and also offers 24 hour roadside assistance in case of an emergency. Because this product was made for convenience of roadside assistance it is not compatible to be used as a hotspot.
I hope this is of great use. Have an awesome rest of your day!

Q: Since the 2G sunset, my 2011 BMW 535i can't access any ConnectedDrive features. Will this reenable ConnectedDrive, like automatics service requests, Google search, etc.? I know BMW requires a subscription, which I will get if this device will help.

A: Hello BenjaminK!
What a great question! I would love to answer this for you!
With the ConnectedDrive feature offered by BMW, the Car Connection 2.0 would not grant access to this feature. BMW would be the best resource to check on updates to the feature, and which phones are compatible.
I hope this information helps!

A: Howdy Bill B,
Great question, I’ll be happy to help!
The Car Connection 2.0 2G/ Edge and 3G UMTS wireless technologies. As long as AT&T provides a 3G connection where you are using the device you will have a data connection to the network.
Please visit https://www.att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html and ensure the area you use the device, does have AT&T 3G coverage.
Hope this helps Bill B!
