Nice, affordable upgrade
It might not be top of the line, but with the current reduced price it's a very capable, affordable upgrade. Fast processor, lots of storage, NFC, wireless charging, long lasting battery and Android 13 -- all of it for the price of a budget phone. Can't go wrong with it!

Absolutely worst phone

Phone shutdown while using. Freezes. No sound in the middle of calls. I use this phone for work. I have lost more reports because of this phone and it's issues. It was recommended by a store employee. Absolutely the worst phone I have ever tried to use. And of course I have to pay it off before I can replace it Even though I called about the issues right after I purchased it. Don't waste your time and money. LoL now it won't let me submit the review!

google has no warrantee

I purchased a Pixel 7a phone 11 months ago.
First I want to emphasize that ATT tried very hard to remedy this problem, but were unable since it was Google, the phone manufacturer, who was in charge of the warantee.
1. It requires a google email account to work properly, but it will accept another's email during setup, but just gives an error that the account does not exist when you try to access anything on the phone. OK if you have a gmail account.
2. the phone automatically goes on a call spree calling several (at one case one number 3 times, another a number I had in memory but never had called in a span of a few minutes ) phone numbers, seemingly at random. The phone was on the table!
3. I will get a phone call, but when I try to answer, it gives me a fill in advertisement - will not allow me to answer call.
4. The phone randomly places phone numbers of those who call me into a "immediate to voice mail" so they cannot call me, very similar to a blocked phone number, but does allow a voice mail. Hard to find the location to reverse this "selection". They can use the text, but the phone keeps "dinging" telling me of a new texts that do not exist so that is worthless.
5. When I contacted ATT tech help line, we worked on the phone for over 12 hours to fix the problem in maybe 4-5 (groups) of calls over the past 6 months. Their suggestion was to contact Google for warrantee or replacement.
6. I was told by several ATT Tech Service that they have a large number of issues with the Google phones, from the Google software is not compatible with the ATT software to the large number of problems calls with this phone (Pixel7a) compared to other manufacturers
7. I did get an agent at Google (probably not the right person) who told me that Google only warrantees the Google phones if purchased through Google. Call to ATT said that was incorrect, but were unable to do anything to help.
8. Go to Google to get help, they send you to a different page in a circular manner. They do infer there is a button to get a call back, but the button does nothing. I found at least 7 different "paths" to the same page which just starts the loop over.
9. If you cancel the contract, or return the phone, instead of paying $2/mo, I will get billed for just under $19 for the remaining 26 months of the contract "due to the deal". FOR A PHONE THAT DOES NOT WORK!
10. If I cancel this number, or go to another carrier, I am still liable to Google the $20/mo.
My only course of action now is to update to another phone under a different phone number, keep paying the $2/mo until the contract expires in over 2 years.
MY SUGGESTION: Please buy a Google phone if you like talking to Tech Services and playing with circular paths on the Google web page (I have spent nearly 15 hours playing this game with ATT and Google). In that case you will love the phone. But to use it as a functional cell phone, avoid at all costs this phone (Pixel 7A) and I would stay away from any Google phone.
Just below this review box, it asks if I would "recommend this product to a friend". It is so bad, I would "not recommend this phone to an enemy"!
All the information can be confirmed by the ATT records of my calls to their Tech Services.
