not worth it
I got this for my son for christmas, a week after the charger doesn't stay connected and the tablet freezes and has to be rebooted nemerous times

Smooth operation

Just picked up April 10. So far smooth, quick enough (could use more RAM) and great size. Like it alot even compared to my high end tablets. Freezes up on some games with high intense graphics. Can't beat the price.

Colossal waste of manufacturing.

This device has only 1GB of RAM that ends up being 80-90% consumed at any given time. Its function is so poor that the Facebook app hardly works. Scrolling is slow to the point of frustration. Also, can't switch to multitasking view and back w/o the app reloading itself.
So... what on God's Green Earth is the point of manufacturing a device that doesn't even do the most basic of functions? This item is literally a waste of plastic, parts, and resources designed to make $ w/o actually delivering any kind of decent service.

Q: Can videos that are downloaded be watched without a data plan? Like in the car when we aren't using data or wifi?

Q: Is there a link to download the Android updates for this tablet? I'd greatly prefer to update my tablet by having it boot the file from the memory card than via wifi.

All the updates that AT&T releases are done over the air, and using a wifi connection is encouraged. You can connect directly with ASUS at http://www.asus.com/us/support/ , and see if they have any other options to get the update besides over the air.
