Absolutely wonderful. Better than the iPad.
I work in the software development industry and used the iPad since it's launch. It made work easier while on the go. Our technical environment is Windows, so when Windows 8 and the supporting tablets were announced, we became very excited.
When AT&T launched this Samsung ATIV, we immediately picked one up for testing. After testing it hard now for about a week , we are happy with the results. The Atom Cloverleaf processor is not as powerful as it's big brother in some other Win 8 tablets, but it's an improvement over past Atoms. It performs well while extending the battery life a good bit.
In the past I have not been a fan of the new versions of Windows; even though Win 7 corrected Vista issues. However, I am very excited about Windows 8. Yes, Win 8 is a big change, but it is a very good change that Microsoft needed to make. It is so fluid, especially on a tablet.
A major plus is the ability to run standard Windows applications on a tablet. Testing continues, but as of now, our Windows apps perform well. Native windows apps on the tablet with data in a cloud/web environment allow traditional desktop applications and mobile tablet applications communicate in real time.
In summary, the small tablet factor, mobile accessibility, long battery life, and smooth Windows 8 make this tablet an iPad replacement. Our field personnel iPads are now being replaced with this tablet. While improvements are sure to come, this is a very good step in the right direction.

No Digital Ink (S Pen) = Deal Breaker
The single most important feature that distinguishes this product from all the other "tablets" is its supposed digital inking capabilities backed by the exception hand writing recognition capabilities that have been baked into Windows since 2000 (anyone remember Windows Tablet OS?). I was disappointed to learn that this particular model/unit does NOT have the digital inking capabilities - or at least this would seem to be the case as every digitizer I've tried did NOT work. So I returned it! Samsung & AT&T - listen to your customers! We want the digital inking capabilities - otherwise, why should I bother with this unit given it's size and cost?

Why no S Pen..
I love the fact that the S Pen APP is part of the package, but I hate the fact of no accompanying S Pen, which makes it hard to use the S Pen APP; of which even a Bluetooth S Pen would be nice.
ProsRealistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Lightweight
Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a great tablet laptop combination.

The Samsung Ativ Smart Laptop is a great combination of laptop and tablet. As a tablet it is large enough to do presentations and have them easily seen.
When needed it is a full feature laptop that can be used anywhere.
Battery life is about 2 hours which seems to be adequate for most tasks.
It works well as a wireless device or using 4G.
I highly recommend the Samsung Ativ Smart Laptop.

Q: Is this tablet a good replacement for my laptop? Can it run Safari?
13 years ago2 Answers
- A: This tablet is a full laptop/tablet converitble. It can have a keyboard attached so you have a laptop when you need it. It runs the full Windows Desktop, so you can download Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or just use Internet Explorer 10. You have complete control just like you would with a Windows Laptop, in the convieniant package of the tablet formfactor.13 years agoHelpful?
