Great all-around
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I chose Samsung's watches knowing it would do as I needed it to because the phones I used over the years I was pleased to find it lived up to it's promises and more so now that blood pressure can now be tracked too. The biggest concern that I have however is this: when starting workouts, I am told to choose start on phone or start on watch. If I start on watch, I cannot see workout progress on my phone which removes my ability to track at a quick glance, especially while biking. If I start on phone, I get to track on both, but more and more features are disappearing. For example, doing reps with a dumbbell, each rep is no longer counted and auto-paused when the total set goal is reached (e.g.: 15), forcing manual pausing between sets. Fixing these issues would bring back the fifth star in this review.

R&R Team
Aloha Trevanoc,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your experience with the Galaxy Watch8. It is wonderful to hear that your long-standing satisfaction with Samsung phones led you to the watch, and that features like blood pressure tracking are living up to your expectations. The differences you noticed between starting workouts on your phone versus starting them on your watch are tied to how the software syncs across devices during specific activities:
• Watch-Initiated Workouts: Starting a workout directly from your watch optimizes the utilization of the wearable's standalone sensors. While this ensures deep data tracking from your wrist, the real-time display currently remains localized to the watch screen rather than mirroring simultaneously to your phone.
• Phone-Initiated Workouts: Starting a workout from your phone prioritizes your mobile screen as the primary display dashboard. However, because the phone interface acts as the main hub in this mode, certain specialized watch-side features, such as automatic rep counting and set-goal auto-pausing for strength training, do not trigger in the same way.
To get the most out of your current setup, we recommend the following approaches depending on your workout type:
• For Biking: Consider starting the workout from your watch to ensure full sensor tracking, and utilize a bike mount for your wrist or secure your watch to your handlebars if you need a quick-glance display while riding.
• For Strength Training: Initiate the workout directly from your watch rather than your phone. This ensures that the built-in accelerometers on your wrist remain active to automatically count your dumbbell reps and auto-pause when you reach your set goals.
Your insights regarding cross-device mirroring and feature consistency are incredibly valuable as software updates are continuously developed to improve the user experience. Should you have any questions or require assistance in the future, please feel free to connect with our Support Team at any time. We are always here to help. We truly appreciate your continued partnership and the confidence you place in our team.

Hey Arvj58,
Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Galaxy Watch8. It is great to hear that you are enjoying the step tracking and are looking forward to exploring the variety of features the watch has to offer. To help you get the most out of your experience and extend the daily usage of your device, here are a few effective ways to optimize your battery performance:
• Adjust Display Settings: Lowering the screen brightness or turning off the "Always On Display" feature can significantly reduce battery consumption.
• Manage Notifications: Setting your notifications to only alert you for essential apps prevents the screen and vibration motor from activating unnecessarily.
• Review Background Apps: Closing apps that run in the background or turning off continuous heart rate monitoring can help conserve power throughout the day.
• Enable Power Saving Mode: Activating this built-in feature optimizes performance to maximize battery life when you need it to last longer.
We appreciate you choosing Samsung to assist with your fitness journey.
