After I complete my trade-in online, what happens next?

You’ll get an email with details on how to send in your old device. Send us your old device within 30 days of activating your new one. Before mailing, turn off activation locks like Find My iPhone and Google activation locks to limit processing delays and avoid losing your trade-in value.

How many devices can I submit, at one time, for a trade-in?

You may submit up to five devices during a twelve-month period.

How is the trade-in value of my old device calculated?

You can easily learn how much your old device is worth before trading it in. Once you search for your phone model on this page , answer a few questions about its condition, enter its IMEI or serial number, and AT&T will show you what your device is worth if you trade it in. If you like the trade-in offer, just finish the process of purchasing your new phone and follow the instructions to trade in your old device. Once AT&T receives your old phone and verifies its condition, you will get an AT&T Promotion Card credited with your phone’s value or the value of your device offer as a bill credit. AT&T constantly monitors the industry to offer competitive trade-in values—taking into consideration the device's make, model, and condition. If your old device shows signs of wear, it will still be accepted, but the value will be adjusted accordingly.

What is an IMEI number and how is it used?

The IMEI number is an essential feature of every mobile device—it's a unique identifier that plays a critical role in various aspects of your phone's functionality and security. IMEI is the acronym for International Mobile Equipment Identity. As its name suggests, it's an identifier that distinguishes each mobile device across the globe. It consists of 15- to 17-digit numbers and is unique to each device. And, just like fingerprints that are unique for each person and used to identify that person, the IMEI is used to identify valid devices and can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing a network. Can I trade in a T-Mobile or Verizon phone to AT&T?

Absolutely, you can trade in a phone from another carrier to AT&T, including T-Mobile and Verizon. However, here are a few things to keep in mind. If you’re on an installment plan with your old carrier, you’ll first need to pay off the device before trading it into AT&T. Otherwise, your old carrier may bill you for what you owe for the device. You’ll also want to double-check that the device you’re trading in is still worth something. Check your device trade-in value .

Where can I request a replacement shipping kit?

If you need a replacement kit, you can request one by filling out the form at the bottom of AT&T’s trade-in page .

What if my device has zero value?

If the trade-in value of a device is zero, you can mail your device in for recycling. You can also take your device to an AT&T store location and drop it into the recycling bin. That’s a win for sustainability.

How do I remove my information from my old device?

If you have any questions regarding how to erase personal information from your device, refer to the owner's manual or manufacturer's website. If you need additional information and you don't have your owner's manual, try the Device How-To Center .

How quickly will I receive my trade-in value?

If you’re trading in your device as part of a national trade-in promotion, your eligible promotional credit will be applied to your bill within 3 billing cycles. Note: You must ship your old device within thirty (30) days of activating your new device to remain eligible for promotional credit. If you’re completing the trade-in process in an AT&T store , and you choose not to participate in a trade-in promotion, your standard trade-in value is available instantly.
