Every iPhone before the 18 Pro used a fixed aperture, relying only on shutter speed and ISO to manage light. A wider aperture lets in more light and blurs backgrounds more strongly. A narrower aperture keeps more of the scene in sharp focus. The iPhone 18 Pro controls this automatically, but Pro controls allow manual adjustment.
