Turn on Wi-Fi network security

Want to protect your home network? Learn how to turn on Wi-Fi network security.

Protect your network now

To keep unwanted users from accessing your network, you can turn on Wi-Fi® security and create a custom password for your home network.  Your Wi-Fi gateway comes with the security on by default. If you turned it off, it’s easy to turn it back on.

Heads up: With the Pace 5268, you may have to turn Wi-Fi security on for each radio you use: 2.4GHz, 2.4GHz Guest, 5.0GHz, and 5.0GHz Guest.

To turn Wi-Fi security on:
  1. Go to your gateway settings.
  2. Scroll to Key Things to do Using Your Gateway and select Wi-Fi.
  3. Enter the Device Access Code (located on the side of your gateway).
  4. Select Submit.
  5. Set Wi-Fi Interface and Wi-Fi Security to Enabled for each radio you want to be password-protected.
  6. From the sign-in drop-down, select WPA-PSK (TKIP)/WPA2-PSK (AES).
  7. Select Use custom Wi-Fi Network Password.
  8. Enter a new password.
  9. Select Save.

Once you turn on or update your Wi-Fi network security, be sure to reconnect your Wi-Fi devices with the new info.
