Find out about On Net and Off Net calls

Phone calls can be defined as On Network (On Net) or Off Network (Off Net).

Learn the difference between On and Off Net calls and how minutes are counted

On Network calls
On Net calls are placed from your Phone to another Phone customer. These calls are not available for view on monthly bills. On Net calls don't count against allotted minutes under a defined minutes-per-month plan, such as the Phone 200.

Off Network calls
Off Net calls are placed from your Phone to any non-Phone customer. Off Net calls count against allotted minutes under a defined minutes-per-month plan, such as the Phone 200.

Note: Toll-free calls are Off Net calls.

How minutes are counted when making a call
Minutes are counted once there is a confirmed connection between parties, including:
  • Calls picked up by answering machine or voicemail
  • Calls picked up and then terminated after the connection is made

Note: If a call is terminated as the connection is made, it will result in a one-minute call. All call time minutes are rounded up to the next minute.

International minutes
International minutes are counted like other minutes. While Phone Unlimited customers may have no limit for On Net or Off Net calls, applicable international rates apply. International calls, including International Mobile Termination fees, are rated separately and vary by destination country.
