Manage voicemail message waiting indicator

AT&T voicemail plays an interrupted dial tone and, if available, turns the message waiting indicator light on when you have voicemail messages. The message waiting indicator can be turned on or off at any time.

To turn the message waiting indicator off or on
  1. Go to Account overview > My digital home phone.
  2. Under My Voicemail & Phone Features select Check or manage voicemail & features.
  3. Select the Voicemail Settings tab.
  4. Select Telephone Notification from the Notifications sections.
  5. Select the Off or On radio button and read the information provided.
  6. Select Save.

If you also have AT&T TV service you can receive an alert on your TV to indicate a voicemail message is waiting.

Here's how it works:
  • When a new voicemail message arrives, a small window appears on the TV screen indicating a new voicemail message has been received.
  • The window automatically disappears after 10 seconds.
  • This feature is included with your service at no extra charge.

The indicator can be activated through your remote control or by signing in to your online myAT&T account.

To activate the message waiting indicator on the TV with your remote control
  1. Tune to channel 9900 and follow the on-screen prompts.
  2. Be sure to save your selections.

To activate the message waiting indicator on the TV from your myAT&T account

  3. Select the Voicemail Settings tab.
